I take a camera crew to my local senior center and I construct a soul train dance line. Put them all in flamboyant big collared outfits with platform shoes, turn on some al green and let them go. Show 30 seconds of slow motion dancing and they are all holding dads root beers. Best commercial of the night and I thought of that on the *******.

What's so hard about this?

Entertainment is fun but is wrapped in a brand loyalty metric that is very hard to move.

What you saw is brands being focused on a sales message sprinkled with others tying in topical issues.

It may not have been "fun" for you, but that isn't what these MBAs are learning in business school.

If you want to know what it's like working on national/international brands, I've laid it it for you in both responses.

Everyone tries too hard now. Expectations are too high. How many memorable Superbowl commercials have there ever really been? Thought this years were okay. Really liked the Superbowl babies all dressed up, easy rider one was okay, skittles was cute. Nothing people are going to be talking about in ten years but not terrible.

Saw plenty of calls for heads and boycotts from the other side last night as well.

"Middle path" and all that.

I saw Audi catch a lot of twitter **** for their sanctimonious dog whistle ad about wage gap, gender equality etc. Their board is all male, all white.

I saw boycott Coke tweets, boycott Budweiser tweets, and boycott Lumber84 tweets and calls for their metaphorical heads as a result of their ads....some quite hysterically "how dare they" in nature.

I'm all for boycotting companies if you disagree with their message or conduct. Let's just not act like snowflake hysterics are the exclusive purview of any section of American politics.

Also saw that alt-right Spencer guy trying to turn the NE win into a victory for the white culture....which was very weird.

They don't suck. You just don't know what sucking is because you aren't a classically trained marketing expert. They were actually great. Sorry about your ignorance.
Your title asked for an objective opinion (specifically, mine) as to why it is hard. I spelled it out in two different ways. I never made any statement on quality of any given ad. I gave the perspective of the clients I work with every day.

I'm sorry my response didn't align with your alt facts version of what reality looks like.

You are quite sensitive to feedback. That's a trait you'd need to abandon if you ever wanted to make ads.

It is weird, but no weirder than the tons of posts lamenting the Patriots win as more unfair success for white supremacists.

Maybe the internet is full of idiots.

Tons of funny stuff out on YouTube...steal some ideas! Our family liked the Buick and KIA commercials. That was it.

Last week the term douche canoe was used on a show I watch and I am now 100% convinced that a writer for major TV is on this site stealing our ****.

If the advertising community has the same sense of humor as our resident expert we might have found the issue.

Don't feel frightened, snowflake. You and your über touchy friends stick together on these boards. It's a safe space.

I guess I just don't understand this world. I reread this thread and I just can't get to the place where I was the sensitive one. I'm sorry spandex ghandi.
