With that being said, where does everyone think the cutoff will be for 1a/1aa?

Last I heard is Murphy will be big at 495. Again just rumor but that is the latest I have heard.

If you count by size, Perquimans is #32. That puts everybody from Lakewood on down (including Mitchell) in little 1A. That's probably too simple though... are there any big schools that don't play football?

But there are a few bigger than Perquimans that won't make the playoffs, pushing it down some. Avery, Atkins, and Highland Tech are 3 I can think of off the top of my head that probably won't make it that are in the 32 biggest.

Yeh I edited with Atkins right as you were typing that, I guess. Couldn't remember Cherryville's W/L off the top off my head.

and whoever loses between Pender and Trask is out too. So it looks like as of now Murphy will be in 1AA as the smallest team.

That is what everyone was saying for years minus murphy and until recently Robbinsville. Now you can see it like everyone else has. Good luck to your Dogs!

Nah I have to disagree, before just recently Albemarle was the real deal and there were years where Mount Airy and Wallace Rose Hill were small 1A too. Plymouth is a very good program.

The first two rounds of 1A have always been a joke but after that you could count on tough games. It's only gotten really weak in the last couple of years. This year there's only three teams in the whole small 1A bracket that would have any chance at all of making it to the 3rd round in 1AA: Rosman, Robbinsville and Plymouth.

Next season small 1A is going to be the worst it's ever been because Rosman and Robbinsville both graduate a lot of talent. Plymouth will probably cakewalk to a state title next year unless Cherokee makes a big jump in improvement with their young guys.

Good I'm glad we can play better first round opponents.

But if you now look at THE SMALL 1A bracket it is a complete joke.

Hahaha a Murphy fan now calling the 1A bracket a complete joke. Now that they are playing with the big boys the little bracket is a joke... you can't make this stuff up folks only in Murphy! Wait... didn't Murphy already get beat this year by one of those complete joke little 1A teams (Robbinsville)?! Enjoy 1AA pup fans... it's here to stay! But no seriously, good luck!!! :D

Robbinsville does graduate some talented kids this season, but will return a bunch of talent next season. Many wrote them off last year for this season after graduating a bunch of talent off the state championship team also.

define 'a bunch'? You graduate 8 starters on defense, and three off that big line and the Millsaps boys on offense.

The 2015 Robbinsville team isn't as good as the 2014 team, and the 2016 team won't be as good as the 2015 team.

Murphy will be small 1A. There will be more drop out from the lower half than the upper half. The cutoff will probably be in those schools in the 516-519 range.

that's not correct, not even close. Murphy 'could' still go small 1A but the cutoff is not going to be anywhere near that high, it wasn't even that high last year.

The thing we can not know is who opts out. If I'm 2-8 and have to travel 250 miles to lose 60-0 with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores, I'm probably not going to do it. I know there is something to be said about the experience, but they might also enjoy Carowinds or something too.

that's true, the opt out can go both ways though, could push the cutoff even lower.

Almost every team is going to return several talented players every year. The point was Robbinsville loses a lot and won't be as good next season. Just like they lost a lot last year and weren't as good this season. Eventually heavy graduation losses catch up to small enrollment programs.

It's true they were better than expected this year but that was mainly because people underestimated how important those returning linemen were to their overall success. I'm sure the Knights will still be a contender in small 1A next year but do not see them repeating their SMC level of success next season.

If you disagree with any of that I don't know what to tell you.

I'm guessing Atkins, Spring Creek, Avery, Louisburg, Pender, Highland Tech, and Cherryville are all out of he playoffs, making the cutoff between Murphy (495) and Northampton (490).

Are these the ADM's that will be used for reclassification? If so Polk should go 1a correct?

We will return 3 starter on the line. Odom, Hooper, and #55. We return a good backfield in Wiggins, Rattler, Hemphill, and #8. All sophmores and one Junior. TE is a sophmnore also and one WR is a junior. We do lose the QB and a WR or two.

And you lose almost your entire defense. Your line and defense are the two most important parts of your team and you lose most of both.

Outside of Hemphill and L Millsaps, your skill players this year are ok, but not on the level of what you had last year. Rattler is good though and will be a boost next season.

Never said that Robbinsville would be a good next year... Just simply pointing out that we do return some good players next year, after you offered your opinion about next years SMC demise for rosman and Robbinsville. if you can't comprehend what I'm saying, I'll try to simplify it further.

I never said either team wouldn't be good next year, simply that they wouldn't be serious state title contenders. I'm not sure what's so controversial about that given what each loses to graduation.

Nice strawman though, definitely didn't offer up the "demise" of either team.

Even though only the bottom 20%, not 25%, will be 1A next time, I think you're right. Don't know if it will change anything conference wise for Polk, but at least they'll be in different playoff brackets.

No you said the 1a is going to be "The Worst Ever"and gave Rosman and Robbinsville losing so much as your reason why. I simply gave my opinion that I thought that Robbinsville returns several talented players and could be overlooked again...could be bad wrong though.

And? I stand behind that comment. 1A is going to be the worst it's ever been next season. Neither Robbinsville or Rosman will be as good next year as they are this year, and as a result the 1A west is going to be really really weak next season.
