It’s really a shame that OU has “stooped” so low that articles like this are news worthy. Damn the whole world is wondering what the hell is going on with the defensive coaching staff at Oklahoma University. How dumb is that?

It's been time for a new defensive direction for OU for too many years now.
Having to watch the offense carry the defense game in and game out is not fun to watch....and it sure as schit isn't a formula for winning national championships.

Yet, this article was written in January 2018 and OU gave MS another raise and contract extension in June. Basically a $2.9M guaranteed salary. He has to be laughing his *** off at their stupidity. Say “thanks, bubba”, Mikey!
I agree with the gist of the article, but they are incorrect about the lack of NFL draft picks. About a month or two ago, I did an analysis and OU has almost the same amount of defensive players in the NFL as offensive. I think offense had 1 more than defense.
However, I think that's an even worse story for Mike. He HAS had the talent as shown by NFL rosters. He HAS NOT coached them to play like NFL players.

Can a Mike Stoops defense hold TT or WVU under 500-550 yards?
Do I expect for at least one player and one team, every year to have their best game against a Mike Stoops defense?

I would just be happy with a defense that performs to the level of the talent on the roster. Year after year MS fails to achieve that.
