and this is no disrespect to any fine player we have, but they seem like 2 kids who could come to together and play major minutes for 3-4 years and really build on what the current CCC recruits have started

are they not the ideal CCC recruits?
- great families who value life beyond basketball
- great academic backgrounds
- great basketball IQ and feel for the game
- are "Northwestern kids"
- strong desire to win

this 2 kids could really be the kids that put on a stamp on changing the history of Northwestern basketball building on the current rosters success. really exciting times for the NU basketball program.

It's an interesting summer. The Cats are also strongly involved with the top 2 players in the state for 2018 - one has visited, one is visiting this week.

I count NU STRONGLY involved with five of the ten players who make up the top five in the next two classes.

I'll agree with anyone who wants to say these are longshots. However, between the classes of '17 and '18, if you get any two of the "names" out there, it's a different recruiting stratosphere for NU.

OK, that's enough PR work for the program this week.

Coach Collins is impressive. With him you get a sense of a straight shooter, which is rare and refreshing in the world of big time college athletics where the sleaze factor is so high.

Really like this Davison kid, love his tape. Do we have any chance for him, seems like Wisconsin is the favorite and we offered late.

Late? 5 days after a bunch of majors (including the Badgers) during the summer contact period. Just after the announcement of the WRA renovation. Having said that, Wisconsin needs a PG and it will be hard to beat a WI who have Big 10 title hopes this season.

Illinois getting Tilmon to go along with another Goodwin buddy from Belleville (Javon Pickett) and another down stater in Damonte Williams is going to help Illinois' chances with Goodwin.

That's not a prediction. Just saying it helps.

Thanks for your comment, but where are you when there were the negative comments about Illinois? This really is a remarkable change in its recruiting history. Can you explain the reason for the sudden success? Is it Lovie?

I don't know if one top 30 can qualify a class as "remarkable' quite yet.

However if this goes in the direction "experts" are predicting, yes, I'd agree something is fishy. You have a coach who has proven nothing. He was filling his rotation with mid-major transfers. Several players on his team had more court dates than games played. And the new AD who has come nowhere close to giving the coach an endorsement.

And people are blowing off Kansas and MSU for this?

If this turns into three top-50s, I don't buy it for a second.

The new AD gave a hearty informal endorsement to Groce when learning of the verbal. One could properly yell "Get a room!" after their very public display of affection.

My hunch is...Groce successfully used his religiosity as a recruiting pitch.
