I'm not sure how many of ya'll listen to podcasts, but I caught wind of a new podcast by Michael Lewis (he wrote Moneyball) about refereeing. The first episode was released yesterday, and so far it's mainly about NBA refs and how Adam Silver has worked to make the game more fair and alleviate the "god-like" authority of refs in the arena.

It's pretty good so far. With as much as we talk about refs on here, I figured some of you guys would be interested. Episode was only 40 minutes, so pretty easy listen in the car on the way to and from the office.

All refs, without exception, suck. Umpires too.

Yeah, he attempts to stay neutral, but he leans more to the side of the refs.

He does talk about weak-minded refs that can be influenced or outright bought. Also digs into why the NBA stars are the ones that argue with refs the most and how it's a microcosm of larger society where rich people don't think certain rules apply to them.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting stuff regardless how you feel about refs in general.
