AI and new generation

Without sounding too much like a geezer, it's unreal how dependent people are on their phones. But it has gotten ridiculous. I heard a story that a guy went on a blind date and the girl he met asked AI what she should order to eat. If you have to ask AI what to eat, your life is pretty much over.

It's actually been that way for awhile. We used to work on our cars the way we were taught by our dads and now we have a youtube generation. My son needed his thermostat changed in his car and instead of doing it with me on the weekend he thought he could just look online and they would show him. After losing a lot of his antifreeze and still not getting it changed he waited. He just thought it should be that easy.

People I work with will try a hundred things to try to do a job rather than what has worked for many years. If you can find a better way then I'm all for it but don't waste the time because you want to do it your way.

I agree, except the slowly. Its going fast and will just accelerate. I know several people who already dont think for themselves at all.

I don't really see this as a problem. He may have overestimated his abilities, but if there is one single good thing about YouTube, its the ability for DIY. I think what he did is a perfect example of using technology to your advantage.
