Seems like a really weird fit on paper. He’s not known as a good defender and allegedly ended up in Self’s doghouse over his effort on that end by the end of the year. Now he’s committing to play for Beard, who’s known even more as a defense first coach. Maybe they were just desperate for someone who could theoretically be a wing scorer.
8 years? How old is this guy? Or are you maybe including multiple high schools?
That's a red flag to me. Kids that bounce around from HS to HS usually have issues that don't complement TEAM atmosphere.
I think he got 2 mil last year. Bet his phone wasn’t ringing with big offers. I bet Beard came along and broke him off around 750k. He probably got mostly silence after that number got thrown out to other schools talking to him.
He could have picked his school and dollar amount last spring. Right now 750K would be a very good amount for him, the year at Kansas killed his stock. But if he can get back to the form he had at Wisconsin then Beard got a very good player for a steal of a price.
At Kansas you can play 10 years. That’s how long they think a bachelor takes.
Word on the streets was that he was willing to stay at Kansas another year, but was negotiating for more money. Dude only had 2-3 decent games the entire year and was a major defensive liability
