Wifey and I have Wednesday practice round tix for this years tourney. Looking for intel on the course....Where is a good place to watch on the course? Booze info? Food? Parking? We're staying 7 miles down the road on International Dr, and wonder if there is public transit to/from Bay Hill. TIA

I've played there a few times. I don't want to say it's nondescript, but it sort of is. I'm not much for live in person golf b/c you can rarely see what you want to see.

I sometimes loved the range at tour events more than the golf. Especially early in the morning b/c you get to see what these guys are really capable of up close.

Wednesday is the pro-am, not a practice round. Probably the worst day of a tournament week to watch live golf. 1 pro assigned with 4 amateurs - many who couldn't break 100 on their best day. Some pros will engage with their group others don't.

I would try and go on Tuesday (practice round day where the pros are very loose and friendly) or Thursday, the first day of the tournament.

Most of your other questions can be answered by reviewing their website.

Yeah, @IrishHerb once told me a story of him playing a round with John Cook.

Here is web site for parking.

My 2 cents on viewing areas:

Front 9

This is a compact area to see a lot of golf
3 Green
4 Tee
5 green
6 Tee--See the pros take on the lake

Back 9

This is a compact area to see a lot of golf

16 Fairway/green
17 Green
18 Tee
18 Fairway--Can watch 18 green action from 18 fairway

18 and 16 fairways are parallel.

Parking at Universal is incredibly convenient and the shuttle is only about 15 minutes. Note that the pro-am on Wednesday is likely going to be 9-hole groupings so pay attention to the API website to gauge your time accordingly. And what I mean by that is Scottie Scheffler might tee off at 7am and he'll play 9 holes with his group and then a new pro will come in on 10 tee to play the back 9 with that group. So if you arrived at 10am and wanted to see him, you might not.

But only 9 holes. A group of us had just finished 18, and a few of us wanted to go out for 9 more. The guy in the pro shop said there was a single out on the first tee, and we could join him. Turned out to be John Cook. On several of his shots, he explained what he was going to try to do and why. Was amazing to see him do what he had planned.
