Devin Townsend's Lightwork is probably my favorite album of '22 (it at least made up for The Puzzle/Snuggles, which I don't like at all). But I haven't listened to a lot of new stuff this year, including the new Megadeth or Ghost.
The only live bands I saw this year were Priest and Queensryche (in Corbin). I skipped on seeing Maiden (I've already seen 'em live nine times and I only like a few songs from their latest album) and King Diamond.

King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizzard - Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava
Some favorites:
Caracara - New Preoccupations. FFO of 90's grunge that's moody/dark. This album is just so solid. Dug every song.
I lean more towards newer indie rock/emo adjacent stuff. Some others I dug were Spielbergs - Vistli
and Milly - Eternal Ring:
