He has always claimed to be a devout Muslim, correct? If so, then isn't his body supposed to be buried in inside of 24 period before the sun sets the next day? Remember that being a big thing when Bin Laden was killed.

Krazy does not want Muslim questions from someone that does not understand the whole religion. Leave him alone.

My wife's aunt was married to guy who was Muslim and he was a great guy. He had a massive heart attack and died and within a 24 period he was buried so I was just wondering what the deal here with Ali.

Why was Muslim written in all caps?
I hit the cap key and just didn't change it, but I will if it will make a couple of you feel better. For the record! I have met Ali a couple of times and he was very gracious and friendly. I was a Nam vet and wasn't real happy with him avoiding his duty, but it took a lot of courage to do what he did and his involvement in the civil rights movement. Just imagine winning a gold medal for your country and you come home to LOUISVILLE and are not allowed to walk into a restaurant to eat in your own city.

They can't even run autopsies in 24 hours.
From what I've read the Muslim faith dosen't believe in anything that desecrates the body and goes thru washing rituals and things to prepare the body for burial...my wife's aunt's husband was wrapped in a shroud and just buried in the ground.

Ali was a great citizen regardless of beliefs. Let that man RIP and the the managers of his situation do their thing.

He was no ordinary Muslim and if there is a code and he breaks it so what?

You hit the caps on accident and my posting grammar is all hoax too!

From what I've ready, that man your aunt married is your UNCLEin law. You had a MULSIM UNCLEin law.

Can you not bring yourself to allow your "aunt's husband" to be remembered as part of your family? Even though he was apparently a ****** MUSLIM for marrying whitey.

Perhaps if you led with this? Maybe?

Also, I don't ride horses. In fact, my car is in the shop, which is a real bummer. Thanks for that reminder.

Get that, but I think US laws require autopsies if COD isn't known. How do they get around that - on either side.

how do we know he hasn't been buried - the events Wednesday and Friday are memorial services?

For the record, people seem to confuse Islam with Nation of Islam and there is a difference.

Good point, just assumed everyone knew that - but it's not the 1960s anymore. Is Nation of Islam still even around? Nation of Islam was a very militant organization - the Honorable Elijah Muhammed, Malcolm X, etc. I think without much digging it was obvious Elijah Muhammed (those old enough to remember Ali's fights will recall he'd always praise the Honorable Elijah Muhammed immediately after the fight while still in the ring) was basically a fraud and a charlatan. Malcolm X figured that out, left the group - and Elijah put the hit on him that resulted in his death. For all intents it was a militant cult, only vaguely resembling Islam. I presume the cult disbanded and Ali "converted" to traditional Islam, but that's a guess.....

Edit: just checked, it's still around, but only 20,000 - 50,000 members. Has been headed since 1970s by Louis Farrakhan, how could I forget that name!
