Mark Stoops' hiring of Eddie Gran is most significant, and most promising, not because of Gran's track record. His resume is impressive, but more importantly Gran has Stoops' complete trust.

Head coach in waiting. Sounds disgustingly familiar. Love and kisses at first then a slow moving train wreck.

I am pretty sure "Head Coach of the Offense" has zero correlation with "Head Coach in waiting". I know that experiment ended up failing with Joker, but I don't think you have to apply that with the new hire.

I think Gran wanted to know if Stoops was going to meddle with his offense and so "st..oops" is making it abundantly clear he will not get in the way.

Lol is this post serious? Head coach of the offense is not the same as head coach in waiting. Entirely different titles and meanings. It simply means Gran has 110% control of the offense.

I have been saying this all along on this board about the micro managing and meddling!

So Stoops made a bad hire in Dawson, recognized it, & took steps to fix it. We'll see.

So the guy who is making over $3MM a year won't have any input on what happens when his team has the ball. Do you really believe that? Or do you simply believe in blue?

It's probably more about getting more money/responsibility for Gran to ensure that he would take the job.

It's apparent that Stoops lost trust in Dawson as the year progressed...as did 99% of fans.

Blah blah blah. The team has one head coach. Some of you are so lost Magellan couldn't find you. http://espn.go.com/college-football...owments-exchange-namesakes-new-trend-coaching

I don't believe a coach as experienced or as well regarded as Gran would leave a safe job under a stable regime at UC because of an essentially meaningless job title.

If Stoops and Gran have agreed that Gran is the "Head Coach of the Offense", I believe that is exactly what both of them believe. It remains to be seen if both men can make the arrangement work.

***Note: UK has announced that Gran's title is "Associate Head Coach: Offense." That's not quite "Head Coach of the Offense. I still believe the O will be Gran's ship to run. Stoops has to know his job depends on Gran being a success.
