Dang! Second year in a row I got smoked by none other than former Northwestern tennis player Robert Raidt at the Midwest Clay Court Championship. Closer than it seems, as I was able to handle him on backhand volleys. But I had big time trouble with my serve and forehand topspin was off a bit.
That was in singles. In doubles semifinals,I only had 10 unforced errors all match, but my partner had 45 or so. Still, we were up 40-15 in game where if we win, we are up 5-4 and headed for tiebreaker to see who makes finals We lost and opponents lost 5-7,5-7 in finals.
Next year will be in an easier time as I enter 65s age group. Did make the finals in 2022 for same age group.
My goal is a world title in 2026 or 27. Just need to tweak my forehand topspin and serve and I'll be right in the thick of things. Dang!!!!!!

Raidt is definitely top 20 in the nation at 60s. He lost to a top 20 in world, Sanjiv Pillav in singles. In doubles,he made the finals at 50s age group,so congratulations to him.

Another former Northwestern tennis player,Heirzgova? Misspelled name, is a top 15 ranked doubles player in USA for 55s. His kid plays for Northwestern now. Go NU.

Lastly,if I had Raidt as my partner, we would have won 60s doubles with our eyes closed. Likely 2 and 1. No biggie,I have bigger fish to fry.
