Anyone else heard much of Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats? I heard one song of theirs on XM, S.O.B. Lots of horns, but pretty good, and definitely a southern feel to the vocals. I wouldn't call it blues, but it isn't country either. I'm going to be traveling in a couple of weeks, and I think I might have to buy an album from this band to keep someone next to me on the flight from trying to chat with me for the entire flight.

We're able to hear WNKU, 104.1, one of Northern Kentucky University's network of stations in the Ohio Valley region, in western Kanawha County and points west. A couple of WKNU's jocks regularly have them in the rotation. I'd call it the Allman Brothers meet the Bar Kay's, but that doesn't quite describe them either? They're a tight, hot sounding outfit.

They had them live via remote at some event in the Covington area a few months back. They brought the house down. I don't think anyone was looking forward to going on after them.

Those guys blew up over the last year and a half. Buy the self titled album, it is really good. Really good live shows too. I saw them at Farm Aid and was stunned but how loved they were by the Frat Bros. That kind of concerns me.

I ended up buying the self-titled album. Like it so far. I watched their Tiny Desk Concert before buying it. I can't imagine how crazy good they would be live.

I'm picked up the new Sturgill album too. I had heard a few off of that one and liked them all.

Other than Sturgill, any good suggestions in that genre? I've got a ton of DBT, some Yayhoos and other Baird related stuff.

I hope you now have all 3 Sturgill albums. If not you need to get on that. Jason Isbell used to be part of the Truckers and is really, really good on his own. His last 2 albums and his Live From Alabama would be good places to start.

May be best to just throw it on a Jason Isbell Pandora channel and pick out what you like. Jamey Johnson and Cody Jinks are good throwback country acts. I kind of really like the Oklahoma Americana music out now with Parker Millsap, John Fullbright and a little Turnpike Troubadors. But seriously, your best bet is to just pick a Pandora Station and go from there.

I'm missing Sturgill's first album. I'll correct that soon. Thanks for all the suggestions. I've heard most of those folks, and I like some of most of their music.

Listened to much Todd Snider? I go back and forth on his music, but he's pretty entertaining to me. He has something newer out now where Elizabeth Cook sings with him. She's another chick that's okay.
