Going to throw up a poll on this one as I'm genuinely curious.

As a Bengals fan in a loss season where we do not make the playoffs. Is it bad that I'm rooting for them to lose? Clearly getting a better draft pick would benefit the team than a meaningless win that potentially pushes us from #3 pick to #10.... Thoughts?

I ask because I've been getting bashed on twitter the last two days from Bengals fans who rather beat Baltimore than lose.... -_-

I'm a Bengals fan and I would rather they lose and get a better draft position.

They must stay in a range that allows them to draft Sewell.

The Jets f'ed up royally by winning and missing out on Lawrence. I think they will regret it for at least a decade.

Don't you want them to get better? Winning at this point only gets throws them down the draft board.
I would say winning games instead of losing them is a pretty solid indicator of getting better.

And **** Pittsburgh and Baltimore. And Cleveland too if we had them left.

Eh at this point in the season you got players sitting out. Half not caring due to elimination. I question if everyone is really at full strength.

Go look up the last 20 or something year the Bengals routinely win the last couple games of the season. We all know the outcome of the next.

Bengals always knock it out of the park with real high draft picks ........ Watching them the last two weeks have been some of the most enjoyable Bengals watching I’ve had in a while. Genuinely happy for the team. I’ll take that over a slightly better pick.

I'd rather beat Baltimore. But I'm fine with either option. Cincy will do great nabbing Slater if Sewell's already gone.

Heres a fun fact if you have twitter and can view it... wonder how often this deadcat bounce cost us a better player.

Exactly.

To the OP....the Steelera and the Patriots...the Ravens...the Packers.

They all draft late almost every year. What gives?

It's almost like who's running your front office matters more than where you draft!

Duke Tobin hasn't fixed the OL this entire time. Cedric Ogbuehi. Billy Price. Bobby Hart signing. And I've never seen Pennei Pasta play, but folks are all up in arms over a guy who hasn't even played this year.

I mean yeah....I'd rather watch us win football games. I honestly don't think it's that complicated.

I voted no I think your fandom is solid.

However, I will submit I grew up a Bengals fan my whole life and I was so disgusted at the Steelers playoff game in 2016 I quit watching. So I’m def a bad fan.

It’s one thing to lose a game it’s another to act like a bunch of spoiled brat a holes.

No because a better draft pick would be in their best interest long term.

But isn’t Baltimore the franchise that infamously moved away from Cleveland in the dark of night? If so, then yeah I could definitely see why they would be saying that. Or am I remembering things wrong?

Maybe I'm set in my ways so I'm blinded by other peoples view point on this. I just can't for the life of me can understand why fans would want to win pointless games in a lost season.

Last 2 years... you have a 2 win and currently a 4 win season. It is not like we are building a winning culture.

Rather pick in the top 5 then winning Sunday and potentially going to #10

100%. There's no sense being a 4 or 5 win team in the NFL, or a 30 win team in the NBA.

Its the worst place to be, being a .300 win team. Either win or lose out so you can rebuild.

Jets are going to get stuck taking Justin Fields or Sewell, who is great, but we really don't need another Tackle, at least considering everything we DO need. We won a meaningless game and missed out on Trevor Lawrence.

Also you could flip the high draft pick for extra picks.... great way to rebuild a team!

Eh maybe. I dont think anyone is gonna trade for Fields.. at least not a lot for him.

That's what I wanted Lawrence for.. never wanted him as a player.. I wanted the Jets to trade the pick for like 4 1st rounders.. I still trust that Sam Darnold can be a great QB, as crazy as that sounds.

@UKNorse I actually may be wrong on that. If Fields can do it again in the title game (depending on the extent he performs), I think teams might want to trade up for him. He showed that he might not be as far off from Lawrence as we originally thought.

Still, I don't like QBs from big schools.. ND, USC, Bama, OSU.. these guys have had teams around them that were so vastly superior, they will never be be this privledged again in their entire NFL career. I think that's why I like Josh Allen so much.. his receivers were a bunch of fast-food workers at Wyoming. His team rarely would totally outclass an opponent.

And sure enough, he's looking like the best QB out of that monster QB class, and dare I say the Bills are THE hottest team right now? I think I might pick them to beat KC if they played tomorrow..

I think Jets trade #2 pick (Fields) for a haul... personally.

I do agree with QB's from big schools they have a crap ton of talent around them. A lot easier to lead one of those teams than being from a mid major or lesser talent D1 team.

Seeing as how Lawrence was going to garner a 1st round swap and probably 2 or 3 more 1st rounders (or some equivalent), id like to think Fields could get a 1st swap, 2 more 1sts or another 1st and a mix of 2nd/3rds/4ths..

We'll probably take a kicker..
