Look's like 5-7 Rutgers is going to be a lucky loser. They failed to qualify for a bowl game due to a losing record. They failed to earn a spot to a low or mid-tier bowl with a losing record due to all the bowl spots being filled by teams with non-losing records. Cough, cough...Texas A&M gets a COVID outbreak and pulls out of the Gator and who's now available as a replacement...Rutgers. Rutgers appears to be in to fill Texas A&M's Gator Bowl spot by virtue of having the highest APR among 5-7 teams not selected for a bowl pending a rubber stamp vote by an NCAA oversight committee.

I can't imagine how they can pull this off. The game is New Years eve and today is the 23rd and I bet no-one is on campus anymore and some of the players are traveling. Plus how do we know Rutgers doesn't have COVID cases that cause them to cancel? Any T A and M game film laying around the for the coaches to look at? The guys going to the NFL probably have agents now so no more eligibility. And they probably took some time off and stayed out of the weight room. Out of shape a bit - injury risk?

It seems practically impossible.

Then again every underdog feel good movie is like this (cue Rocky theme song).

Redo your confidence pools to put RU on top. Like Wake is going to give a flying flap now

Wake wil destroy them. Bad precedent here.
Most players like bowl games. No harm in RU getting a shot, and Wake players getting a game they deserve. Only 3 games mean squat anyway, so this doesn't damage the bowl thing any more than players sitting out does.

I guess in the future they should allow 5-7 teams to continue practicing just in case they need late substitute teams.
