Amari played like he belonged on the floor, especially early in the first half when a lot of our guys looked hesitant.

He doesn’t have the most fluid offensive game, but he’s a man among boys. I like having him on board.

This. Half his shots were because he tried to get something going. But he put it to Maluach and wore his *** out into having to sit. Battling Williams is no small task to ask of anyone let alone a freshman. He tried to draw fouls or beat them down and it worked regardless of how many he missed. He tried and it worked out. 2 or 3 more makes and he gets 10 times the praise.

front court was the strength. Watching it in person you saw how physical our guys were when Maulach (sp) started trying to muscle people.

They muscled right back.

Guard play was…I don’t even know. Somewhere between awful and “oh **** he made it”

My 14 year old the fanatic lost her voice.

WORTH IT.
You should have a peaceful few days. Enjoy it!

He did some good things. He also made some mistakes. I bet he learns from those mistakes and continues to do good things.

That real hard screen he put on that trash talking guard 14 that sent him to the locker room I truly believe set the tone for that beat down Kentucky gave Duke in the 2nd half man what a screen
He hit 260 pounds of muscle and crumpled.

I find it odd that he has such fluid ball handling and passing skills and has a few moves under the basket, but when it comes to actually shooting he loses all coordination. If he could develop a little mid range jumper he could be deadly.

He never returned and showed him squalling all over the floor in immense pain that was more than normal that was like hitting a concrete wall
I went back and watched it 5 times. It wasn't. The dude was acting.
There was only 2 mins left in the game he wasn't coming back in. He was a reserve and want a top 7 player for them

It was a statement screen. That guy kept getting locked up with our guards during dead ball times and the refs kept separating them.

he was a typically bully who got hit in the mouth and went home crying to momma

Funny seeing Duke fans crying about it. That's old school basketball
Agree. A dude built like James isn't getting truly hurt by that normal screen. Just another Duke drama play to get an advantage. Didn't work last night..

If people couldn't see how refs control games last night, you will never see it. First half they let Duke be physical and it caused us to be timid and foul trouble. Matt Jones thought we weren't even in the game . Joke.
2md half we were let be physical. All done by the stripes

It was clean, but I was SHOCKED it wasn't called an offensive foul. Refs live for that moment to make the big call and emphatically point the other way. 100% that's called the other way in a hostile gym.

Not that it's a great excuse, but he has hands the size of a Direct TV dish. Makes touch tricky.

I wonder if he grew up playing soccer rather than basketball? I’ve known some soccer players that were amazing athletes that turned into clowns when they had to catch stuff.

We finally have the grown man team instead of losing to the grown man team.

His first post up in the first half, where he hit Duke's big guy with 2 body checks and then a soft left hook shot was when I knew he belonged and knew what he was doing. Can't just try and shoot up and over a guy like that. Got to make them feel you.

Amari played well putting to rest for me the thought that he would struggle w an upgrade in competition. No bigger in season game against a top program and conference to prove it.

He injured a Duke player.

Should have been thrown out of the game, dismissed from the team, banned from NCAA play, summarily executed, and may God and little 8 lb 12oz baby Jesus have mercy on his soul….

Just curious what your thoughts of toward the end of the game, we were shooting free throws a couple times and WIlliams was not in the game- I thought he would put him in for defense because dUKe's only offense was give the ball to Flagg, who was being guarded by a much smaller guy and let him get into the lane- maybe let Carr take him, if WIlliams is in the game and he would stop anything in the paint- maybe Pope didn't want him in the game when dUKe missed and they would foul Williams so he would have to shoot free throws- Williams was a man last night !!!!
