Here's an amateur analysis done by hollandnucat and I. We did this once before and I talked him into joining me on another.

Buie- He is a good ballhandler. Quick. Has a quick release. Good court vision. Good passer. Posses a scorers mentality. Creates offensively unseen at NU before him. Able to create off the dribble and without the ball. He could improve on gaining some strength. Defense both on-ball and off-ball.

Spencer- Very Athletic. Good vertically. Decent ball handler. Plays with confidence. Decent midrange shot. Decent defender. Hustles. Strong. Good at taking the ball to the hole. He could improve on his 3 point shot. He struggles against quicker guards both offensively and defensively. He also is prone to over dribbling or "trying to do too much".

Gaines- Best defender on the team. Shot is developing. Strong driving to the hole. He could still improve on his shot.

Kopp- Good looking 3 ball. Seems to be a good scorer. Shoots well when healthy. He could improve on defense and consistency.

Nance- Very good defender. Good midrange game. Good passer. Needs to improve on consistency and hitting the 3 ball.

Turner- Good defender. Good passer. Creates decently. Athletic and can jump. Really good player when his shot is going. Needs to work on consistency with his shot and getting it to fall.

Young- Great footwork. Good passer. Good bball IQ. Decent rebounder. Good inside against smaller bigs. He's not quick or athletic enough to take B1G bigs head on and will have to rely on pump fakes/post moves to score. Needs to get stronger. Needs to get stronger hands

Jones- B1G body. Athletic. Flashes raw ability. Needs to work on his overall game and catch it up to his body.

Beran- Good looking jumpshot. Nice touch. Plays long. Needs to add some strength. Could work on his inside game.

seems like as good analysis as anyone here except maybe Haywood who actually seems to get some real inside info on players.

Agree with your analysis, but would add a proviso to Spencer being a decent ball handler...: as long as he was facing a very average defense.

Agree, Spencer is more of a 2 guard with average handles but the confidence that he can handle anything, which has been both good and bad. Also Turner's review was a bit optimistic, though I agree that when he hits 3's he becomes a much more confident, effective player.

I was really impressed with the progress Jones has made. He seems to have slowed down and is much less foul prone now, and shows flashes offensively. The dribble drive for a bucket was smooth although I wish he'd just go up and dunk it. His 16 minutes of game time was a season high. Looking for coninued improvement the last 2/3 of the season.
