If you're going to put Kodi on anything learn how to do everything yourself and don't use a build. As Kodi updates older versions will become less and less reliable, plus it prevents you from having a bunch of bloatware and useless, possibly unstable, add-ons on your device.

Lots of people who bought pre-installed Fire Sticks are getting slower and less reliable service now that Krypton has been released and they don't know how to fix it.

Any links on the correct way to set it up?

There is no correct way, it all depends on what you want to use it for. For most people installing Exodus is all they need.

The method I linked to above installs Exodus and some other common plugins like SportsDevil and other for movies and TV shows. Also installs a few skins (which you have to manually switch to), that optimize the Kodi UI for the plugins.

I recommend getting a job and having cable/satellite, then using your Fire stick for extras (Prime, Netflix, etc)

I recommend having cable/satellite too, no Kodi add-on is a legitimate replacement for live cable TV.

Why? Do you own a cable company or something?

I've been cable free for three years, haven't missed a single thing I want to see and have saved about $4,000 in the process. Seems like you could use your job money on better things that getting raped by a cable/satellite company, but maybe that's just me.

OP, I self-installed Kodi on a $40 firestick. It takes 5-10 minutes. And, I love knowing I'm helping kill greedy cable's archaic business model and ESPN's revenue stream.

I mostly watch Exodus, however switch over to CCloudTV for some of the local news stations around the US too.

I'm more worried about a troll posting an NFL game or Game of Thrones episode but it ends up being some sick illegal video that gets my house raided.

I've got a job, and have cable. I'm trying to get away from torrenting movies, also if I could cancel my hbo subscription that'd be ideal

We've saved $2400 in 2 years, and I'm watching more sports than ever before. Like the Danny Trejo Sling commercial says, "it's crazy paying a hundred bucks for channels you never watch." I don't understand why more people aren't into this.

If enough people did it, there wouldn't be enough profit in the broadcasts to make them possible. Plus you know it's technically illegal, and some people just prefer the convenience of being able to turn on the TV and switch channels rather than having to go through the hoops of Kodi.

Or it might just drive down cable prices to a reasonable rate, or at least to where (as Danny Trejo says) you aren't paying a 100 bucks a month for channels you never watch. Go "through the hoops"? If a an old hill jack like me can do it, anyone can.

I have been "off cable" for 11 years and have saved around $73,000 by using Netflix, Vudu, and SlingTV (college football season only).

I lived in a very expensive place at the time, Manhattan. Ever heard of it? Would've saved more, but sling costs money.
Yeah I've heard of manhattan but I doubt you paid 6,636 a year. Compared to my cable bill a year which is close to 1,200.

NYC cable is very good and cool. I has extra NY-ONLY channels:

NY1 - New Yorks's CNN with host Pat Kiernan and Myor Bloomberg's press conferences about hurricanes. It also has a PTI like show about just New York - with the fat guy who started Guardian Angels and various African-American gentlemen.

YES - Yankees, Mike Francesa Radio, Notre Dame documentaries, LIU Brooklyn basketball games

MSG - Knicks, Rangers, whatever other ******** is going on at Madison Square Garden - ever heard of it?!

SNY - Mets, Jets, Stoney Brook & Fordham basketball games.

Cost of Living = roughly Cost of Cable

From the extra $73,000 nut I earned by not watching cable, I was able to buy a really nice boat and jet skis as investments. Who's laughing now?! (Haha I am.)

Age doesn't have anything to do with going through the hoops. Some people just want to turn on the TV and change the channel instead of going through dozens of steps to get Kodi set up.

And decreasing the price of cable is going to make TV programming less profitable, which would just further lead to the decline of television programming.

Takes about 10 minutes to initially set up your kodi and your add one. After that, it's just as fast and convenient as your cable box. Except for all movies and tv shows are available. If you're not streaming your video, you're doing it wrong.

My man talks about saving money then claims to spend the savings on one of the worst investments a man can make by buying a boat. And he thinks we should listen to him.

Can't make this **** up.

Nobody tell him he'll burn more cash in maintenance than he saved on cable...

Watercraft are a top investment strategy in my neck of the woods. I use my spare time from not watching cable to flip pontoons and kayaks on the eBay, and now, Facebook marketplace.

Some people say a boat is a hole in water that you dump money into. These people just don't know how to handle money. I make my money work for me, in the form of horse trading watercraft.

Riiight. I lived in Alabama for 11 years. Fishing capitol of the south. Can't sling a dead cat w/o hitting big water or a boat dealer. NOBODY horse trades boats and comes out on top. They are a liability, just like a car. You can continue to lie to us, yourself and your wife, but you are completely full of ****, bro.
