I mean, any thoughts pertaining specifically to that particular tablet? My iPad is now 4.5 years old, and suddenly weazy. Lots of reloading of web pages and generally old-agedness. So, time for a new one.

Mainly, boring as it makes me, I just use the thing to surf the web and look at email. Very few apps.

Thinking of an iPad mini. But maybe I'll try something new.......

if you use the kindle app and download books it's a worthy tablet, especially if you don't care too much about the latest apps or whatever. Got my daughter one a few years back and she really liked it.

IF all you use it for is surfing the web and email, just get the $50 Kindle 7" Fire. You can get iPad Minis at fairly reasonable prices these days if you get an old model though.

If you had an iPad already then you probably won't like the kindle. I have had an iPad for a few years now and when I use the kindle it just seem like it is a low quality device. Apps seems slower, seem to drop easier and it sometimes is more trouble then it's worth if you are just looking up some thing quick like a message or a score of a game.

To sum it up, it's basically like you have been driving a BMW, then you trade that for a Ford Taurus, sure it gets the job done, but it's no BMW.

Sometimes just getting the job done is all that is needed. I spent over $300 on a Samsung tablet. It still operated perfectly fine until it died on me. Got the $50 Fire tablet (which will only be $35 for Black Friday, I'm hearing) because I didn't need all the power and fancy wizbangs of an iPad and I've been perfectly happy with it. i would feel like I threw away money if I had gotten an iPad or a nice Android tablet.

make sure you have graphical options turned off, i think its called reduced motion or something in accessibility settings. maybe try reinstalling the OS wiping everything off and only installing necessary apps.

ipad 2(?) should still perform ok and really about as well as cheap options

Thanks for all the replies. It's funny, at times this place - like all of the internet I suppose - can be degenerate. Hostile, idiotic, parochial, all that. And at times the opposite - lot of smart people about any given topic.

Appreciate the feedback.....
