I am NOT bashing or poking at all here. I am a huge fan of Amile. I love his energy, floor leadership (defensively especially) and the passion with which he plays. I don't think there is a Duke player on the current roster that wears the Duke jersey more proudly.

I'm no guru, so I am confused, and I perhaps some of you can shed light on the situation. Much of last year (pre injury of course) and most of the first 10 games Amile looked really strong on the offensive end. His post moves looked so much stronger, and there were even a few mid range jumpers that went down. How many times did we hear that "double double machine" moniker?

But recently we seem to be moving away from that in favor of our 1,2,3's driving, dishing or curling off screens for 3's, and we seem to have abandoned the inside game in general and specifically cut down Amile's touches. Any idea why? Is he not 100%? Is it just K running an offense that he feels gives us the best chance to win?

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Go Duke!!

Alan

I don't think it is any coincidence that the drop-off in production came immediately after the bone bruise injury. Prior to the injury he had scored in double figures in 13 of the 16 games. Since he returned from injury, he has hit double figures just once in the 7 games. There might be more to the injury than we know, and we all know Duke is tight-lipped there. I think that is the big issue, but I do think it is at least exacerbated by Duke's shift to a clear "big three" offensively who are perimeter oriented. For Duke to really hit their stride he needs to produce consistently, but who knows how his foot feels and if he will ever regain it without the rest he will never get in-season.

It's a multitude of factors, of which have already been mentioned in this thread. But I think the biggest is that Amile just isn't playing at 100%. Even watching him run there seems to be a little hitch, and underneath he doesn't seem to have the explosion when going after rebounds.

My opinion is the shot opportunities run thru Allen, Kennard and Tatum. I believe the same approach for who takes shots are used as who gets minutes. It's up to those 3 mentioned to distribute the ball, but they are first 3 with whoever else is out there to get shots when they have the ball in a good situation. I don't think the other guys are restricted though

I think we look for the best way to score the most points each passion and thats with a three pointer. We certainly looked to score more with our inside bigs in earlier games but the three main distributors seem to have a tougher time getting the ball inside because Amile, Giles and Bolden are limited in getting position because of injuries.
