So I know there have been a couple of recent gun threads but I thought this was worth sharing fresh.

My wife bought me a new Kimber .45 for Christmas, it is my second 1911 but .45 is one caliber that I do not have much of.

So, I went to pick up a couple boxes today. $70/box of 50. You read that right, $1.40/round.

But it gets better. The owner told me his distributor contacted him over the weekend to inform him ammo wholesale prices will increase 100% in the coming weeks, done deal, already in the supply chain. Guns are set to rise 20-40%.

This is the second owner that has told me this.

So, no plunking for me, the Kimber will have to stay in the box.

I can get tons of 9mm ammo......They are trying to price us out of being able to by it....

Prices have been bad, but very recently they went VERY BAD. Coupled with the fact that BassPro/Cabelas won't sell ammunition online....I dont' know what's gonna happen, but it ain't gonna be good. This is uncharted territory.

I imagine when dipshit takes office, guns and ammo will be taxed to the moon...He already stated he will conquer NRA...

All of the right wing idiots believe that the Dems are going to be at their door steps asking for all of their guns and ammo. The NRA follows suit. This happened when Obama was elected and guess what, they must have lost my address because I still have all of my guns. All this does is jack up the prices of guns and ammo. Oh and all of the militia clowns believe there is going to be a civil war or a race war so they are loading up as well. They need all of the ammo they can get because they are going to over throw the Government. Guess what, none of this is going to happen, yet they have been brainwashed by the NRA and other's similar to them. They are too ignorant to believe other wise. When those folks come back into the world of reality, gun and ammo prices will fall in line. I firmly believe that the USA has more ignorant people per capita than any other country in the world. Example..70 million morons voted for Trump..the SECOND TIME..

We can only hope the democrats accomplish with the majority the same as the republicans did (zero)

I went to Academy today and they had exactly 9 boxes of .22 ammo and four boxes of .410 gauge shotgun shells; that was it. Bought 500 rounds of .22 LR from Surplus Ammo online for $299. Still hard to find .30 ca. for my carbine.

Happens anytime a Democratic president comes into office. NRA talks about taking away the guns. Gun owners panic and buy more. Manufactures start spreading rumors of nefarious reasons for shortages and raise prices. And it all spirals. I think last time it was because the govment was buying it all to pull off the Jade Helm takeover.
Yeah, the democrats haven't said anything about taking away, limiting, or restricting any guns. Even the most popular rifle in America. It's all just unfounded rumors.

Jesus, do you guys ever GAF about intellectual honesty?

There is no doubt that this administration will try to implement some type of gun control, whether it be taxation, limitations of transfer, slow processing of transfer/approvals, etc. Knowing many, if not all legislation would have to get past the supreme court it's going to be an up hill battle but with what all has gone on the last couple of years who knows.

Serious question. Do you believe in everything the Democratic party has been selling (Green New Deal/Ban on fossil fuels ASAP, Free entry into the US, free college tuition, defunding police, etc. or do you just not like Trump. I have asked several friends and family but never get a response based on policy, always about Trump.

For the record I am not a Trump fan personally, but I think his policy made sense. Nothing about the Democratic party's policy makes sense to me at this point. If they try to pull off what they have promised the economy will tank. Just curious where you land on the policy and not the person?

There's a huge gap between introducing legislation on high capacity magazines that probably won't pass and will take more than a year to implement and panicky cowards "I gotta buy all the bullets today".

No, I got 500 rounds of LR for $299 and that was as cheap as I could find it. I tried Cheaper Than Dirt and they wanted $50 for a box of 30 rounds. I could have gotten the cheap stuff from Russia but it has too much steel and was afraid that it would damage the barrels. This are Long Rifle rounds and not for handguns.
You are the reason prices are so high. You are literally an idiot if you paid .60 cpr for 22lr

GTFO, they're usually .40 but more online. Yeah, I'm the reason ammo prices are so high when all of the shelves are cleaned out. Go to hell.
I can link you to infinite websites cheaper than .40 cpr. Keep paying speciality round prices for 22lr and see if prices ever level out

Lecter, as of this morning Cheaper than Dirt had the same thing for $18 a box; 50 rounds, however, you have to pay a hazardous shipping fee. These are LR .22 hollow points.

..No I don't believe everything the Dems are trying to sell. This has nothing to do with whether or not I like or dislike Trump ( I don't)..I commented on the thread topic and the price of ammo. Nothing more. I just know the price of ammo skyrocketed when Obama took office and many people I know were convinced and remain so about the USA govt coming to our doors and taking our guns and ammo. The price of guns and ammo have gone up since the BLM movement and all of the racket coming from the right about a "war' against our govt. You and I both know there is no chance for any group to try and over throw the govt. It is just lunacy to think that they will. The BLM movement sparked a lot of the guns sales from folks who have never owned a gun in their life.. Simple case of supply and demand the retailers are taking full advantage of it. I own several guns but have stopped short of going to the range like I used to. I have enough ammo but don't want to run out. I am not going to get into a back and forth about my political views on a message board.

Go to this website: ammobuy.com. It has a wide variety of vendors and prices. You'll see that the good stuff will cost more. None of this is cheap anymore.

So basically you don't like Trump, therefore you voted for policy you disagree with? I didn't ask you to outline your stance, just an overarching view but whatever.

As for the ammo and guns, I think it's much more about very normal people buying both guns and ammo to protect themselves because of the fear the media has driven into the general public. My brother (Democrat) who wouldn't shoot an animal to save his life, let alone another human being is looking to buy a gun and go to the range "just in case". 7+ million new gun owners in the US the last 2 years and ammo supply chain hasn't grown over that period, so there is a shortage. Shortage = prices go up. It is way much more economic than you see it.

I was cleaning out a closet over the weekend and found 4 boxes of .45 that I bought ~1992. Still had the $12 price tag on the box.

There's a huge gap between introducing legislation on high capacity magazines that probably won't pass and will take more than a year to implement and panicky cowards "I gotta buy all the bullets today".

Gun and ammo sales began picking up with the China Virus extended shutdowns and went into overdrive when democrats began the Burn-Loot-Murder and Antifa assault, death, and destruction campaigns across America.

Yes, democrats always talk about gun control. That keeps the flow of NRA donations flowing through lobbyists to the scumbag's pockets in DC. But they also want real gun control and have passed it, especially in democrat controlled states. Now there are true radical believers with serious power in your party, including VP Harris who will replace Biden. Just a matter of time. The "progressive" leftists taking over your party have not been shy about their disdain for guns. Is that to be ignored?

Wackos like Beto O'rourke riled up democrats about gun control during the primaries and Biden publicly vowed to put this nutjob in charge of his gun policy. Maybe it was a lie, but is it to be ignored?

If you think just limiting mag capacity is all Biden is currently pushing, you're either being disingenuous or you haven't been listening. Yes, the SC overruled the mag limits imposed by regressive states (no thanks to dems), so that *may* not pass. But the latest I've heard is that Biden plans EOs to ban the manufacture and sale of AR-15s and components and will give the choice of a government "buy back" or registration with extremely high taxes on rifles and individual components. Hell, he campaigned on it! Does this include ammo taxes as well?

An AR-15 is simply a semi-automatic rifle that looks mean to some people. Will these orders apply to all semi-autos? Hell, WTF knows. These idiots don't use logic and reason in their fanatical anti-gun religion, nor do the sheep understand the slippery slope fallacies of such measures. Is this to be ignored?

The "Great Purge" of conservative media, thought, and opinions is openly being called for and enacted by major lib media, big tech, social media giants, politicians, and others. Cancelling conservatives and censoring free speech is already underway. There is even open talk of creating a special police force to investigate "right wing extremists"! DefUnD tHA POllicE...ah, but hire more to police conservatives. Never mind that the left radicals are the ones overwhelmingly doing the destruction and chaos. And to say otherwise is another big liberal lie. Defending against a tyrannical government is a primary reason for the 2nd ammendment, and many people take this seriously and buy guns and ammo.

I've only begun to list some of the real issues facing freedom loving Americans focusing only on a few gun/ammo related issues. People are rightly concerned. It's no damn wonder that guns and ammo are scarce and what little is available is so outrageously expensive. And you try to downplay it all, just as I suspect you will everything your filthy party does to destroy American liberties.

You will own this mess and all of the Anti-American oppressive policies that are imposed under this new administration. And you don't have orange man to blame for anything henceforth.

Next door neighbor had a visitor yesterday from a man who lives a few roads down from our neighborhood and he brought over his newly bought air rifle that shoots arrows. Not a weak air rifle but a very strong one. As we talked about weapons we have, he said he has over 100 weapons and over a million rounds total. He is of Russian decent and served in the Russian army many years ago before coming to the US and becoming a citizen. He worries about the current situation with this country and is preparing as are many others just in case. I know where I can get more ammo if I ever need it. Although, I have plenty.

Trump is polarizing as hell and definitely had an effect on people one way or another. It's like very high level sports figures, you either love em or you hate em, same with him. What is more concerning is that a lot of people never really understood what the party stood for, yet voted that way anyway just because they didn't like Trump. My father, mother and brother all 3 voted Biden but in any political discussion they had never would discuss policy rather than how much they hate Trump. IF they try to follow through with all of their proposed policy it could get very, very bad (division of the population and recession/depression). I hope to hell I am wrong but it seems very obvious.

On a separate note, the election should outline the top 15 policies for a presidents term and have each candidates response in the ballot but not attach their names. Everyone should have to vote strictly on each policy and whomever gets the most votes wins. The kicker to me would be regardless of party the candidate should have to adopt the populations majority vote on each of the policies so there is true representation of the people. Then who gives a rat **** who wins, they have to follow through with the peoples choice for how we want the country ran. Just my opinion.
