And can someone tell Doege the hard truth that Texas Tech was right

He's over 20 years old and not a "kid." The back-up of Texas Tech that is not some world beater chomping at the bit to hit the transfer portal like Mayfield just outplayed him while on the road and Doege at home. Texas Tech was right to pass on Jarrett Doege and not even waste a back-up roster spot. It's not "being mean" to say it, it is pointing out the obvious based upon the results on the field. Now Doege can stop trying to hype up "revenge" games or "having a chip on your shoulder." Now maybe he can focus on wasting a season of experience for players that might actually have a chance to be contributors next year.

He needs that "chip on his shoulder" - the left one. Actually, maybe it should be a block instead of a chip.

That way, it'll force that front shoulder down so he have to drive the ball instead of having his front shoulder up, throwing off his back foot, and having it sail on him.

This makes me respect Skylar Howard a whole lot more than when he was here, compared to what we currently have.

Skylar was a good QB and competitive. Never got the respect he deserved from WVU fans that **** all over him.

Doege is nothing more than another Millard.

Skylar was a scrappy player that compensated for his physical limitations to be a serviceable QB. His problem was that he still did have the size physical limitation and couldn't really use the short to intermediate area of mid field. When Howard was on the team, defense was an after thought and in order for WVU to have chance to compete, it needed to score nearly at will. See the 2018 WVU football team. He'd be great in this system where the offense isn't expected to score 40+ points every game to win. However he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and that's why I said WVU was in trouble if Skylar was the best QB we had. Not because he was terrible, but because WVU's coaching staff at that time needed a great QB to even hope for winning the conference.

Skylar won more games than any of the QB under Holgorsen and the current crew. 28 games with 19 wins.

He did. But he did benefit from the best defense WVU had under Holgorsen during a down Big 12 year. It's why WVU was handily beaten by the only 2 really good teams in the Big 12 that year and had to win close games against the average Big 12 schools that year. He would be a pretty good QB for the current team, but for a Holgerson led team he needed to be a great college QB specimen like Grier or Geno to have a chance. It's why I do like a more defensively minded team than high flying offensively minded team. But the offense has to be at least serviceable.

I will add this. Clarence "Doc" Spears coached the ONLY team in WVU history to go undefeated during the regular season and the post-season. That was in 1922. A century later why are WVU fans angry and surprised that every season WVU does not go undefeated? Can't they read the record?

Put Geno and Grier on Browns team do they go 7-6, 8-4 like they did under Holgorsen in Big 12?

Will Doege transfer after this season, or will he be a 6th year senior WVU QB? Certainly FSU (Fairmont State) would want him, right? Does Garrett County Community College have a football team?

Holgerson's best coaching, at least in my opinion, came when Skylar led us to a 10 win season. Holgs changed his offense to fit Skylar's strengths, and it worked. Beyond that Holgs left some things to be desired, but he did a helluva job that season working with what he had.

I think he's gone and Greene will follow when he gets beat out for the starting job.

7-6 ... maybe given that in 2012 the Big 12 did have 4 really good teams in KSU, Oklahoma, Baylor, and TCU. And in those games WVU got crushed with both sucky offense and defense. 2018 Grier with this offense and defense, likely outperforms 8-4. That year the offense was scoring, but losing shoot outs from a defense that routinely gave up 40 to any team with a pulse on offense.
