I'm thinking Phil Knight... I mean the Oregon AD will want a guy with previous HC experience. Such as former Duck coach and NFL washout Chip Kelly, PJ Fleck from Western Michigan or possibly Les Miles. I don't think Riley will bet picked. He might bet interviewed, but my gut tells me he's lower down on the list.

Ugh I don't like that. Riley would be a good fit for what they like in Autzen.

I disagree Schoonerman...I think Riley is high on their list.

I don't which of you is right, but it's been reported that Phil Knight has pledged a **** load of cash in order to hire the right guy......whoever he thinks that may be of course. I doubt that Oregon is going to be the only school interested in Lincoln Riley.

Oklabama, you got it right. Oregon won't be the only program that gives Riley a look. I just don't think Riley will get a high-profile job like Oregon (where Knight has dumped a ton of $), Tennessee, UCLA or Notre Dame for example, but he could get an offer from Houston or a mid-level Power 5 program.

Keeping my fingers crossed he sticks around for at least one more year!

He's gone, it's just a matter of where. He's got a great resume and A Bob Stoops nod. What sucks is Riley's leaving and Mike is staying.

Oregon looking at Willie Taggart from S. Florida pretty hard. I'm also seeing a lot of Les Miles to Houston.

Taggart is a stud of a coach but not sure he'll make it at a top-tier school as I don't think they'll give him the time he needs. He was pretty poor his first 3 years at USF, but has them rolling this year. Not sure a school like Oregon would give him 3 bad-to-average years though to get his train moving. He may be better suited to go to a school like Baylor where he'll be more likely to get the time required to implement his program.

Separate question more on point to this thread: If Riley were to move on this year, would that impact Mayfield's decision to stick around another year? Would he want to stay @ OU for his senior season while breaking in a new OC?

That's a very good question! I'd hate to see Bakereavr early since he went though the legal process for the right to play next year, and I think another year would help him when he gets to the NFL. But playing under a different OC would be too big a gamble IMO. Maybe a better question would be if Riley leaves who is Bob going to hire. I bet almost anything Bob has a short list already. He's never been caught unprepared that I can remember.

Cale Gundy...

I would love that. I've known Mike and Cale since they were junior high kids and Cale was my favorite. He isn't anything like Mike. However I think Mike is a really good head coach and was a good OC. I'd like Cale to get a shot but I wonder if there is something about him that Bob isn't comfortable with.
