Obviously the refs erred in the last moments of the Ohio State game in Columbus. I coach children's sports and when the players whine about a decision by the ref or umpire, my response is play the ballgame in a way so the scoring margin is big enough a wrong call won't alter the win versus loss result. Play ball, don't complain.

Aaron B quickly walked back his first statement. What would be absurd is setting up a precedent in which the NCAA tournament selectors must review 30+ games per team 60+ teams and 100,000+ referee decisions, changing around the wins and losses.

I equate what happened to RU as the equivalent to what happened to saints v Rams during playoff game a few years ago. Ridiculously blatant. Therefore this article is a bad take.

Didn't read the article.
I actually wouldn't use that comparison.
Pass Interference is still a judgement call.

If would be like if a shot was clearly after the buzzer but allowed.
Stepping out of bounds then back in.

Those are procedural issues that have no judgement interference.

Even a "should have been a foul called at end of game" isn't the same as what happened with OSU.

Good point. I was reacting to the game changing "blatant end of game nature" of the call. The nature of that call in the football game was so egregious that even non-fans of the team were outraged....like me. It should be the same feeling that even non fans for the RU-OSU game should have.

Here’s why the play at the end of our OSU game is so disgusting.
If that was the game winning touchdown in football, it would be reviewed and overturned.
If that was an offsides goal in hockey, the refs can review and overturn it.
Fair/foul ball in baseball can be reviewed and overturned
A game winning shot where you have to check if the guy’s foot is on the line to determine if it’s a 2 or a 3, can be reviewed and overturned.
They review everything at the end of a basketball game, the clock, who the ball if out of, whether or not the couch’s show is untied, freaking everything. That needs to be changed in the future.
No excuse for that carrying into the Seton Hall game, but it happens sometimes.
I know something like that is rare, but stuff like that can’t happen and a review process needs to be in place

"There’s also the matter of what else the refs may have missed over the course of the game between Rutgers and Ohio State. Did they get everything else right over the course of the game? Could Ohio State have already been ahead if the refs were better throughout the game?"

Are you kidding me? (Authors of that story).. OSU got the BENEFIT of the calls that game. As do most big ten teams. They maul Cliff away from the ball and with it... always. That's the plan. It was good to see Michigan games recently because it turns out that big man Davison often holds down opponents when he tries to make a play.. even when he shoots he often badly hooks the defender.. pinning him while he goes around. How that guy doesn't foul out every game is a travesty.

Beyond that, the kid after the game said h he knew what he was doing but thought he might get away with it.

Just out of morbid curiosity, what news sites do you think aren’t fake news sites?

Article makes sense. Games with terrible calls with 5 seconds left aren’t taken into consideration but this one is? It’s a dangerous precedent. I mean I hope they use it to help us this year but don’t know if it’s right.

Most of your above statement was informative and helpful.

And then, well, I guess you just couldn't help it.

No need to review anything. Just review the game or a few games where the Conf came out and said it was the wrong call and RU should have won”. Next
