I will tune into the Miami game (thank God it's not the real Miami), and the one after that, and the one after that, with a shred of hope that this will turn around, at some point, even if it is years. I will likely even go sit in the freezing cold to watch the gophers blast away at the Cats in November. All with the hope there will be another "Rose Bowl" within my lifetime, which is now year LXXIX. GO CATS!

You're but a wee pup. Try LXXXIV, and do it without any aches or pain. Sorry, this year it's the toilet bowl.

SPC, I may go to the MN game, depending on enthusiasm and weather. Does the light rail run from downtown to the stadium?

not sure about the light rail, but a freight train is going to roll right over our defense.

I had been planning to make the trip up... not anymore.

From both downtowns (TWIN Cities), and if you arrive by air, you could take the light rail to downtown Minneapolis.

My genesis with NU football goes back to 1979 September 15th. Riding my bike (bought at Turin Bikes on Davis) around Evanston and went by Dyche and rode right in! and they won!..This was sandwiched between 3 seasons where they had 2 wins . followed by 3 seasons of NO wins....But you knew how poorly they were outmanned so any little thing was call for joy....and you were never disappointed cuz you never thought they would win. Dennis Green made the most of what he had showed some moxie and creativeness....and there were these rare victories that were like holding a precious breakable gem. Same with Francis Peay who I really liked....you went to a game wondering if you had won the lottery ticket....It could happen? but not so disappointed when you lost, plus you could always get a game ticket on the street for $5 bucks......Fitz came and we continued to climb the hill.....but the teter totter we are now on reminds me of Smeagel in Lord of the RIngs....after risking much to steal the ring he retreats into a cave ....afraid to lose the ring .....I would rather lose throwing everything at the opponent and taking some chances , giving new players some chances...Just seems like we are holding on sooo tight so as not to slip backwards that we have forgotten how to be creative and also use scheme as a tool......and yes I am loyal...will be there Saturday night....the real reward of being a fan is embracing the whole experience , ups and downs....not just showing others your shinny toys when we are winning...So now we are on the bridge , over the raging river...fighting a valiant foe to retain our hard earned place in the land of college football.....so lets let it loose....

I forgot Randy Walker who showed we could sustain success and put us on the college landscape with creative scheming...and an offense that everyone in college football was looking at
