This time on the road against a Nebby team with who they had been tied in conference play, 58-54. Gained the lead shortly after the first quarter closed and generally held a 5-7 point advantage until late, but a nice Nebraska rally actually gave them a one point lead with about a minute to play, but a nice eurostep bucket by Pallas gave us an advantage that we would not relinquish.

The win was all the more impressive given the fact that Abi Scheid sat out once again with the ankle injury (though she has not worn the boot the past two games, so she might be close to returning). Our defense was once again stifling, holding Nebby to 29% from the field and 28% from 3, with no one on Nebby scoring more than 12 points. Though our offense in general struggled at times against a variety of interesting defensive looks from the Huskers (anyone remember the 1-3-1?), Lindsey Pulliam did not, going 9-17 from the field, mostly on heavily contested looks, to match her season high with 21 points. And whenever we were missing, Pallas was grabbing offensive rebounds; in fact PKA achieved the rare double-double EXCLUDING defensive rebounds, with 10 offensive rebounds (and an amazing 19 total) and 10 points.

Jordan Hamilton joined a rotating cast of characters in making up for Abi's missing sharpshooting, going 3-5 from 3 with 12 points total. And on a rare off night for Veronica Burton (0-7, 0-3 from 3, 2 pts) her backup Sydney Wood came to the rescue with 7 points and 2 steals, including a key one in crunch, time, With the win, we move ahead of Nebby and are now tied with Indiana for 5th place in the BIG at 5-3 and 12-7 overall.

Nebby's big really bothered our offense. It didn't help that they weren't guarding Brianna Hopkins at all beyond 12 feet (justifiably so). They blocked many shots. We countered with a tall lineup at times, playing both PKA and Wolf at the same time.

Abi's 3 point shooting would have been a big help in opening things up for our other players.

It was a good win in a tough , physical game on the road .

Yeah, I actually don't understand why Brianna starts in place of Abi, though the two-center lineup did limit Brianna's minutes. She frustrates me when she gets the ball, is wide open, but doesn't shoot, drive or try to pass the ball to the post, instead often just passing it back to the person that passed it to her. She actually has a decent jumper (particularly from the mid corners), but just seems to be unusually tentative outside of about 5 feet from the basket (contrast to Nebby's role players who appear to have never met a shot they did not like to take...). This needs to be corrected if Abi is going to continue to be sidelined, imo.
