Any old baseball fans remember this anomaly in the 1981 baseball season?

I think the Reds made a UNC-esque banner for that. Luckily it’s not hanging anywhere.

2 of my Redskins Super Bowl wins are in strike shortened seasons. I'm hoping for a work stoppage in 2021.

What I find more interesting is the great divide in Kentucky fandom. West Kentucky is St. Louis - Central is Cincinnati. I get it has to do with driving distance, but...

I used to work with a guy who was a huge Reds fan and a huge douche. So screw both of them.

I was a Reds fan when I was a kid because every summer we'd go on a trip to Kings Island and to see a Reds game.

That was the year the season was split into halves because of the mid season strike which lasted about 50 games. The Phillies and Dodgers won the first half in their divisions

Baseball ruled that if either or both won the second half, they would have to play the team that finished second in the second half in a 3 game series for the division title. Therefor the Phillies and Dodgers had nothing to play for in the second half. Both teams essentially mailed in the second half.

That's the reason teams like the Reds and Cardinals had better overall records in their respective divisions. Neither the Reds or Cards actually won the second half. Neither team had anything to cry about.

The Reds finished a half game back in the first half. Not playing the same number of games is something to complain about.
