Has anybody experience not getting paid with an online gambling company or delaying a payment that is owed to you entirely to long? My other question is what online gambling operations you feel are reputable and pay out in a timely manner? Who are the best and most respected?

WagerCat is the no-brainer if you can find a local rep.

Otherwise, 5Dimes is the industry standard according to everyone who gambles seriously. They have far and away the best/most lines, great operation.

What is the legal status on these sites? I thought they shut most of them down. And, where are they based? Have always wondered why a site doesn't build a book of business based in some foreign country, take in millions of bets..and then just disappear with all the money.

I use Bovada and have never had any issue with them sending me a payment. I used to have Bank of America and they sold some of their rural branches to local banks, which I now have to use. Now I have to pay $50 for the bank to process it sense it is an international check which sucks.

I've never cashed out for more than 2G in an online sports book, but I have friends who have cashed out 10G and more.. Bookmaker is the one for people making larger wagers. 5 dimes is also a very good reputable book.

Betonline and Bovada are more for recreational users like myself.
Bovada is a book that is more square. meaning lines are shaded to the public action.

My brother had 8G in his bovada account, and they made him withdraw in smaller amounts over time. They also limited his bet limits because he was on such a hot streak.

Different books are good for different things. The preference is dependent on what you're looking for.

All in all I've never had issues getting a withdraw from any of the above mentioned but I'm a small fish.

Bovada is supposedly the gold standard. I've use it but I hate the way they display games. They do not put them in order of the Las Vegas rotation so finding a particular game is time consuming - maybe they have improved it since I used it but that's why I quit using it.

Have used 5dimes for many years no problems. One of the few books that gives you even money on 2 game teasers, but they monkey with the teaser lines so watch out for that i.e. If Pitt is laying 6 against Tenn, you don't necessarily get even money on a 6 point teaser - you may still wind up laying 1/2 or 1. OTOH you might get 61/2 or 7 on Tenn instead of 6.

Betpop has really good parlay odds 6:1 on a 3 game parlay vs. 6.5:1 with most other books. Have used them for years too. Teaser lines are pretty good 105:100 on most.

It's best to use multiple books and shop for the best line. Sometimes you can get as much a 1 or 1.5 point difference in your favor, and over time that equates to a lot of savings.

Cashing out up to 2G is not to shabby. When you say big fish what type of coin are you referring to? I'm a small fish player I guess I will probably wage anywhere from 100-500 on a single game.

Bovada is not the gold standard. I personally have never had issues with them, but I know people that have other than my brother. Whenever the payout becomes too large for their liking they start screwing you around. I likd having an account with them because you can get better numbers (at times), I also know never to rely on them with a large amount of money.

5dimes is great, as Deefense mentioned. Never heard of any issues with them. You can also sell points, which i love.

Bookmaker is the gold standard. I know a pro handicapper personally and he has spoken very highly of them. Mentioned he can deposit 20G and it be in his account within 2 days, also withdraw 20G and it be in his bank account within 3 days.

Deefense is absolutely right, in order to be the best you can be, you have to have multiple books. Shopping for the best line is crucial.
However, I dont understand what D is talking about pertaining to parlays... If you give me odds that are set for parlays then I want nothing to do with you as a book. The parlay odds should be strictly dependent on the price of your selections, nothing else.
On top of the fact parlays and teasers are a long term misstep.. Short term you may cash, but then you begin to think you can hit parlays and teasers all the time. I would rather have my money on a single event. To each their own I guess.

SOSOBLUE - If youre betting 100-500 a game youre betting more than I am. I am usually 50-200 per game. My favorite is betonline for the earliest line releases (which can be difference between cash and loss) and 5dimes / Heritage sports for selling of the line points.

Bookmaker is for anyone and everyone, but if you plan on depositing and withdrawing multi thousand dollars often I would suggest them.

Bovada is a popular book.. other than their lines they are at the bottom of the list for me.

^ if you ask 10 pros who the 'gold standard' is, 9 will say 5Dimes, at least in terms of available action and lines. :100points:

I have a dormant account there, but much prefer Wagercat and the personal connection.

My typical unit for CBB, my wheelhouse, is $100, although I'm down to $50 (or less) for summer sports, and will likely continue into the fall where I've gotten absolutely hammered the last 2 years in CFB.

@BeatintheBookie @TheRealMrACL. Won $1500 in the NCAAT, cashed out, and am back up $800 this summer.

You're welcome. :100points:

You know 10 pros? I don't.

I would imagine they care more about being paid than selection. Especially with an offshore book. The couple of guys I know fly to vegas on a whim if its something they want to hammer.

With that said 5dimes is definitely up there as "best books". Never heard any issues with them. I do have testimony of quite a bit of money transferring accounts using Bookmaker.

Vegas is also different for those guys. Comped rooms every time and Living in CO its a 1.5 hour flight, $250 round trip... I live in a different world than they do.. Haha

Oh. What can happen? Just started gambling a few weeks ago, but I love it so far. Winning like crazy. Not making much (yet, lol) after spending $500 per month on picks, but eventually it will be worth the money I'm hoping.

They guarantee a positive return and are pretty much 80-90% all the time based on what I've seen.

Listen, I want you to win.. If those guys give you winners then more power to you and them. I have seen short term success turn into long term failure. Just be careful.

[eyeroll]. Who do you think you are talking to?

Once you get to 75,000 posts, maybe I will take you seriously. For now, I'm trusting most of my disposable income to random online touts on Twitter.

I noticed Bookmaker is now offering to trade in bitcoin. I see this as a legal work around on deposits and withdraws in the US since it doesn't use US currency. Has anyone used bitcoin in this manner?

D - hit the nail on the head.
I have no personal experience. I do know paypal has some partnership with bitcoin, that does exactly what you stated.

Bitcoin has anyone ever used bitcoin in a transaction? I'm not that familiar with that currency.

By the way I'm going to try 5dimes for this football season.

Curious to know which sport is your preference to bet on basketball, football or baseball? My preference is football I'm terrible betting on basketball games.

5dimes is a good choice.

I mostly bet basketball/football, sometimes futbol/tennis, and rarely bet on baseball .
Oddly enough college basketball is usually my most profitable, but NBA is by far what im the worst at.

I've seen you mention this a couple of times so I thought I'd go ahead and see what it was. Thought it would be a rickroll or something. Sorry I doubted you.

Ymmot, So did you set up an acct and win? Hope you did. 5 Dimes and these other ones don't nearly pay as well.

Hooking up with a local agent is the way to go. Seems like there are lots of sites similar to WageCat where you can still go online and place your bets but you square up through a local person. Been doing that for years in Lexington.

Bovada charges you $50 to send you a check. Have them put it on the credit card and its free.

Yeah, I mean I get it if you're an agent -- but the sites/concept themselves aren't exactly a secret anymore. Everyone I know who gambles uses one, and outside of my friends I referred, I don't know a single person with the same agent. It's everywhere.

I'm not saying anything really, just sayin.

Also every time you hear about some push for legal gambling in KY it seems someone is busted out of the blue for a "gambling ring" scheme.

Just hate to see that. The fact that it is illegal is very corrupt.
