I have acquired a taste for Spiced Rum...I like several brands but I just bought a fifth of The Kracken Spiced Black Rum 94 proof............never again.
I'd be interested in knowing a good brand to try. I like Captain Morgan Spiced Rum but I like the 100 proof. Has a better kick without the volume. Thanks (I have a nice local liquor store but dog gone if I want to go through the twenty or more brands they have.) I know two of them and will go back to them. I doubt I will finish this bottle. I may give it to someone... Thanks in advance...

In my more adventurous days I'd make it to Haiti now and then and pick up some Rhum Barbancourt 5 Star. I recommend it to rum drinkers.

Thanks to all. I am anxious to stop back by the liquor store near my house. It is a more high end store and has more brands than I ever remember seeing in one store. Keep posting. I am going to purchase some small bottles to try....

Good luck.
I went down that path and ended up with 4 bottles, a 1.75 of Bacardi Select, a bottle of Kraken, one of Captain Morgan Black, and one of Captain Morgan Private Stock that nobody will drink and I can't give away. Wife has got a bottle of some sort of flavored **** taking up space also.
I tried the single malt Scotch thing too but thankfully was able show restraint and only buy one bottle at a time as I finished each.
I've found my niche and I'll just stick with whiskey (Bourbon and mostly Rye) and Anejo Tequilas.

Kirk & Sweeney 12yr, pretty good, around $30
Ron Zacapa 23
Anything from Plantation.
El Dorado
Diplomatico
Pyrat XO

These are all a little bit higher end, but pretty tasty. There are others but the price tag starts going up, and I can't justify spending too much money on rum.

DON Q from Puerto Rico is the best I have ever had but, that was just regular and not spiced. I don't know if they make a spiced rum.

Ha! There's a bottle of cake flavored vodka in my liquor cabinet and I'll think of this quote until there have been enough baby/wedding showers hosted by my wife for that thing to be finished off.

"When I want meat I have meat. When I want cake I eat cake."

I like Rye too but the taste for spiced rum has been my favorite for a couple years now.

Not much of a Rum guy unless I'm on a beach. That said, Goslings is pretty nice. And one of my first infusions was actually using Goslings and putting a teaspoon of Chinese 5-spice in it. Let it marinate for a day, strain it out. Drink straight or make a Dark and Stormy so delicious that most would give you a pat on the back for..

I make a lot of mistakes, but almost none having to do with drinking. Trust the 5-spice Rum..
