Any satisfaction that Franklin stayed tied for 2nd with Rip Engle in wins as HC.

Not going to pile on Coach Franklin. He had many chances to get that extra win (including the past two games), but I take no pleasure in seeing a good man lose his job, even though I agree with the decision to let him go.
Right, I’m right there with you. I harbor no ill will towards him. He tried, he couldn’t get where he and we wanted him to get to. He seemingly ran out of ideas and energy for it this year. He needed to go but I wish him well whenever he ends up once he’s re-energized.

If "records are made to be broken", then 2nd-Best records are in line for the same!

I wanted James to be very successful here, passing Rip and continuing on an upward arc, finally winning a National Title or 3.
No one will approach 409 wins, not in our lifetimes. It's like 511 Wins in MLB.

Rip was terrific in many ways, was well respected in his day and after. That's his legacy, more than 2nd-most wins at Penn State, imo. It's ok that they're tied. Both deserve their kudos.
