Cincy always seems to have good coaching. Would seem getting Steve Clinkscale from them as a DB coach is a nice hire. Saw he had time at Toledo in the MAC. Anyone know about him? Good recruiter gets good players from Detroit and in Michigan.

I haven't done a lot of research on him but Cincy's D was awful last year. I have no idea how their DB's were though.

Coach Stoops is one of the best at developing talent and I will let his knowledge of this be his choice. Cinn has had some very good coaches pass thru there over the years. I hope it works out for UK to get some of that talent on board. GBB

People want to put too much into where a coach comes from. Sure its great to get a coach from a powerhouse program, but its more important to get someone who can evaluate, adjust, recruit, teach and motivate he is a great hire, if he can't then he isn't so good a hire. Makes no difference if he came Cincy or tOSU.. UGA just hired ILB who has never coached college ball before, not sure he has coached at all. Been on Bama's support staff as a defensive planner, evaluator and helped with on campus recruiting. Was Kirby's first hire, rising superstar recruiter outside of Kirby best on the staff now, good defensive mind, remains to be seen if he can teach.

Actually four of Tennessee's coaches came straight from Cincinnati. HC Butch Jones, Assoc. HC/D-line Steve Stripling, O-line Coach Don Mahoney and Strength Coach Dave Lawson. I know it's difficult to detect sarcasm on the boards but my post was dripping with it.

Perhaps Cincinnatti has become the new cradle of coaches.Kind of makes sense....good recruiting base, a conference (or two or three) where you can refine your strategies, and still an area where the coaches can garner some attention nationally.

Good hire. Tommy Tuberville like Stoops has a background in defense primarily, and he knows how to identify & develop assistant talent. Used to be a defensive coordinator, so he brings that additional experience to our staff. strong recruiter in the Detroit & Mich area, another new area in the B1G footprint we can open up & get into along with Ohio. His addition along with Gran/Hinshaw/Thomas expands our territory, north to Michigan and now more prominently in Florida.
