Anybody ever been to Halifax, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., and Cape Breton Island?

....if so, I would like whatever info you can give me. I'm thinking of planning a trip there for about 7-10 days. My initial thought is to fly into Halifax , spend a night there and rent a car there and then head out to PEI and/or Cape Breton for the bulk of the trio, then back to Halifax for another night at the end.

My main interests are drinking good beer, good hiking, good traditional music, and local history....not necessarily in that order.

Haven't been to Nova Scotia. We flew to Maine and stayed in Portland and Kennebunkport on our way to New Brunswick. You drive through the Acadia National Park on the way to New Brunswick which is similar to Nova Scotia.

Another good alternative is Quebec City. It is one of the oldest cities in North America and is really beautiful. Has great food and beer. Can be a tad expensive.

I worked up there. Halifax is a cool town. PEI is only for old farts. Moncton, NB is interesting and has some cool bars. Shediac (aka the Lobster Capital of the World) is not worth the trip. Watching the tides in the Bay of Fundy is awesome.

If you go, focus on the outdoor stuff and spend more time around Halifax as opposed to PEI.

Used to go up there for work at least once a year. Recommend it highly.

I'm just a big fan of Canada period, but Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and even PEI. :sunglasses: are some of my favorites.

Took a motorcycle trip through Nova Scotia a few years ago. It's a pretty place, but I have no desire to go back.

I've been there. There's a place called Joe's with good seafood. That's about the only place I spent time that wasn't exclusive and private.

Remember reading about a guy that flew up there, had like a 9 hour layover so he decided to take a walk and got about a quarter mile away from the airport and was killed by a combination of wolves and a bear. They fought over his corpse and scattered him around a little bit. Pretty rare accomplishment to get attacked by a bear and then wolves, too. His last thought must have been "what, now wolves, too? Damn this place sucks?"
