I thought it was a lot of fun. I smiled throughout it and Krypto rules! Gunn, of Guardians of the Galaxy fame, did a great job with it.
Glad you liked it. The last Marvel movie, or any superhero movie, I’ve watched in a theater was Doctor Strange.

My biggest problem with Marvel movies: I enjoyed the the actual comic books so much more. I had (roughly) 12 years of comic books, got the X-Men at their Claremont-Byrne peak. That was Art.

I saw the first part of the Chris Reeve Superman on TCM the other night. It really works. MK as Lois, that worked.

Well this version of Superman is what I would categorize as the comic book Superman. Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Green Lantern, was a hoot and Nicolas Hoult as Lex Luthor was great too. See it in IMAX, it was shot specifically for that.

Claremont/Byrne X-Men run maybe the best ever for an artist/writer tandem for the medium; Morrison/Quitely, Alan Moore/Gibbons, Loeb/Sale my other favorites. But man - 80’s X-Men was ridiculous.

That stuff was crazy. And in comparison to the Marvel movies, it's like comparing Black Sabbath to whatever ******** music is out now.

Also

same.
The Claremont-Frank Miller Wolverine four-comic limited series from 1982, that was something else too.

I eventually gave up comics, it’s a luxury for a middling mathematics graduate student.

Feel like I was at the comics zeitgeist in ‘88 - ‘99 or so. Birth of Image Comics was maybe the biggest event in comics history - million issue monthly sales were so common. Today lucky if a book hits 100k a month. Comics medium is suffering - big time. Image Co-founder Rob Liefeld has a great ‘inside baseball’ podcast of comics that is worth a listen.

After end game, marvel basically jumped the shark with that one and the rest have been blah.
another Superman ugh. May go see it but lex Luther again. Still liked gene Hackman as Luther and Glenn ford as the father. 4th? Different Superman not going back to 40’s that is. Reeves still the best.

Counter opinion: this movie was absolutely … not for me. It hits like an animated movie with some live action shoehorned in between sequences. Some of the performances are actually pretty great, but the few character driven scenes are jarring because they don’t fit in with the rest of the warp speed animated zaniness. Think The Phantom Menace at 2x speed but without all the character development (sarcasm intended).

Definitely not my cup of tea. 0.1 stars out of 4.
