Anyone still think Montrez Harrell is 1st Team AA?

He played 38 minutes today and finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Some might say he just had an off day. Trouble is, he always has off days when he faces a good front court. The Tarheels have some size and talent down low and Harrell wilted.

Don't misunderstand, he's a good player, but first team AA isn't for good players. It's for great players.

And I still don't think this particular UL team is a top 10 team. They lack the scoring punch needed to be a real Final Four contender. I think once that fact sinks in with that group, we will see them struggle with chemistry and they'll likely lose some games they should win.

Have noticed that when he goes against taller bigs that are talented he is very mediocre. Why I don't understand when Bilas says he is better than all our bigs and all the talk about being a top ten pick.

I was never impressed with him , he dunks on lesser teams and provides some energy plays but he is not a special talent at all .

If I was playing Louisville the first thing I would do would be to go out there and punch Montreezzel right in the nose.

He is not even the best player on his team. Terry Rozier is the guy they cannot afford to lose.

I don't think some UofL FANS think Harrell is 1st Team AA:

And why does he not pass it out while being doubled or tripled team? He's like a black hole with limited post moves. Not to mention he always talks back to Rick when he gets on to him. Anybody else notice this? Aginst Clemson Rick yelled at him for letting his man get a rebound, and Harrel yelled right back at him and then waved Rick off as to say I'm not listening to what you're saying."

He's only first team in trash talking and being an outright punk on the floor. Good player but Rozier is much better and it ain't close right now.

Kind of like Winston yelling at his coach. Not very common. Normally RP would suspend and possibly get rid of a player doing this if he was one of his worst players. He knows he can't afford to lose Harrell and Jones.

No he always struggles to matchup and score against other real bigs. 90% of his highlights are fast break dunks against the scubs Rick stacks the schedule with. WIthout Rick Pitinos press feeding he's pretty useless. I've seen him take an occasional jumper this year which is a nice addition to his game but he's not elite.

Harrell is well above average as a banger and will likely do better as a pro player because he won't be double teamed. But he is only one dimension of what's needed on any team. Louisville truly lacks a consistent scoring threat which makes them less than a top ten team.

UL will get smoked by Duke, IMO. And I mean, badly!

Montrez is a good player. He has good effort and obvious ability. However, he is way undersized. His numbers are more a reflection of the quality of front courts Louisville played in the first half of the season. Seriously, look at their schedule. Every game against a team with a sizable, quality front court he has struggled. He is good, but no AA and IMO no first rounder. Good player, though.

If there is one player that should entered the NBA draft last year it was Harrell. You think Rick will cut a check to him for all the money coming back will cost him.

His numbers are pretty good, but its all against pretty weak competition. Hes very undersized (probably around 6'7" in reality) and doesnt really bring too much to the defensive end. I also agree that rozier is a much better player, and a MUCH better pro prospect. I mean that kid is lights out with that mid range game. But Harrell isnt there yet, frankly i dont think he ever will be there

This louisville team reminds me a lot of the BCG team that had meeks and patterson, because they only have two consistent threats. The rest of the team is pretty much garbage, so if you shut those two down (triple team harrell in the paint, face guard rozier) and the rest of the team is having an average night, theyll go down. Theyll be a quick out in the tourney, probably round of 32 or sweet sixteen

People say Poythress doesn't put the ball on the floot very well. I don't think Harrell has shown much ability there either and at his height, wouldn' you expect that out of a first team All-American, at his height, ala Jamal Mashburn? I don't see the skill sets, myself.

The more important question is...is cauley still an all american. He hasn't done much these last couple games.
