You should have heard his post game interview with Paul Rodgers. The guy was literally crying when he tried to speak. I hope he makes it big someday because he seems like a great kid.
That's why I like this young man. He seems hungry yet humble. It's a nice character trait to have with as talented as he is. It would be so easy for him to be conceded but he isn't. It's really nice to see.

3rd player in bowl history to throw and run for over 200 yards in the same game. Not bad as a frosh!

...should remember that A&M is #4 nationally in passing yards allowed at around 160 ypg.

Not only did the freshman kill them with his feet, he performed better than the average SEC team passing against their defense...

He missed some open guys, however I think the fact that they were open speaks to the pressure Jackson can put Ina defense. If he puts in the work in the offseason, stays hungry and stays humble he could be in the Deshawn Watson stratosphere. The progress he made in the last four weeks has been great to see.

He also threaded the needle on the Crum TD, putting it in the only place he could, with Micky making a great hands grab. The last TD - and the game winner - was a thing of beauty.

I am not unhappy with his passing, quite the opposite. He threw some bullets last night. Does he need to improve? Yes. He's only a FR. As Knuckle mentioned he missed some passes, the one with 3:58 to go, 3rd and 5, that could have been picked. Going forward, although he did take a few more snaps under center, he was clearly in shotgun most of the time. I think teams will put 8 guys in the box.

He will have spring ball this year, the kid will go into next year 100x more knowledgeable of the quarterback position. I really think that next year will be the start of a special run for our team.
Bear in mind the recruiting has been off the charts good. The redshirts being released next season alone are feeding the studs.

More disappointed in the play calling after the scripted plays ran out.

The youth showed some. But QB decision consistency was important for game and direction for next year.

Bluegrass,

You hit the nail on the head. Play calling is still questionable. Game became gut wrenching when Bobby became too conservative. With all of our perceived weapons, I think a lot went under utilized. Bonnafon was not even close to being a factor. Interesting to see where that goes.

Could not agree more. That was absolutely no time for Bobby to go Vanilla. We handed momentum back like a bride tossing her flowers.

Charley ball almost got us in the end.

LJ is all that with a cherry on top.

When his pocket presence catches his running ability?

I want to say I saw it. :)

Just a question but I thought McGee was the offensive coordinator. Isn't he the one calling the plays? I mean most of us are real quick to jump on Gratham when the defense starts leaking holes. How come we hold Bobby accountable for the offense? If he's the one calling the plays then why are we paying McGee?

He is a freshman and needs some fine tuning. But my gosh man, he is also a dangerous threat as he is now. He will soon be the most feared QB in college football. Think what he will be under Petrino's mentoring!

No no.. Zipp cleared that up Cue. Bobby is clearly the guy with the waffle menu and McGee is doing hand signals and those could be just for show...

Besides the ridiculous stuff he did on the ground it's a huge feather in Lamar's cap that after a 32 day layoff and against a good pass defense he did not throw an interception while taking a lot more snaps under center.

His footwork in the pocket has also improved dramatically. Kudos to the coaches. Great win.

Petrino calls plays and Mcgee signals them in. He's also Recruiter, mentor, and
'Good cop' to Petrino's bad cop. Petrino laces him up, Mcgee explains what he
did wrong and what he needs to do next.

The thing that impressed me the most last night was getting rid of the ball and not taking sacks. Earlier in the year he took unnecessary sacks, but not last night. When he didn't have anyone open he threw it away. He's learning, and as everyone has stated, he will only get better. The sky's the limit for him.

Are you sure about that Kerry? :D

I will agree that the play-calling MAY have changed when we got the big lead. That has been a Petrino tendency. (Recall the 2005 LPT game.)

But hard not to like much about that game. The OP was for the very few yeah-buts we have in our fanbase...

Petrino calls every single play. He is hooked into McGee with the phones which are never disconnected. He calls the play, McGee sends them in.

There is no way anyone can be critical of Jackson's performance; he earned the MVP award as much as anyone that I can recall in a Bowl game. I agree with the posters noting that our offensive play calling in the 4th quarter was questionable at best and I thought that play calling just about resulted in our snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. My observations on Lamar's throwing remains the same as what I witnessed earlier this season, specifically that his accuracy is inconsistent. With that said, he is just a true freshman and he is improving every week. It is conceivable that with CBP coaching and Lamar's incredible combination of athleticism & attitude he could become the next Cam Newton.
I expect his improvement throwing the football between now and next Fall will mirror his running the ball less often if for no other reason than to reduce his chance of injury. It should be evident to everyone that no college team can expect great success when depending on just one QB.

Watching LJ at QB is special. Had the same feeling while watching Teddy when he came in and beat Lexington city college. LJ very humble after the game. Hats off to Bolin, Gardner, and Bonnafon for putting the team first. Hope we can keep ALL of the coaches on staff. 2016 could be a special year.

Here's hoping Trevon Young a speedy recovery.
