I'm having a hard time seeing the use. I have no interest but I will be keeping up with it.
I think Glass would have been more useful than a watch and I think it's nearly dead

I will have no use for a cellular telephone.
I'm not a cardiac surgeon on on call or a stock broker making trades.
I can't see a market for anybody else.
They are a waste of money.

My battery sucks bad enough that I don't need a Bluetooth connection running it down more.
However .....
Most of my 'checking the phone' activity is pulling it out, reading a three or four word text, checking the time, looking to see if I have emails (when sound has to be off). I can see how a smart watch could be a good thing to have. I'll wait until I get a phone with better battery life or I can stick a SIM card in that thing.

The other strange thing is that the smart watch will be associated with misnomer of "watch" like the cellphone is with "phone."

I don't know who on earth would buy this thing. But then again, people will buy anything Apple releases.

Said it back in September, these watches are ALL about two or three generations away from having a real impact. They just aren't novel at this point. I dont think any of them work when they aren't a few feet away from your phone.. So what's the point?

But, apple fans are a rare breed. Very loyal. This thing will still sell much better than the other watches out there.

This accessory is stupid. Dick Tracy thinks iWatch is ghey. It's the '10's version of the earpiece/Bluetooth thing that announced the wearers douchebaggery.
People will carry one personal mobile computing device... It is the 'phone'.
When folks went to work 8 years ago, they took an MP3 player, wallet, headphones, razor flip phone (optional douchebag Bluetooth earpiece thing)... Now it's buds, wallet, phone - charge one thing ... Add a stupid redundant watch to the mix? No thanks.
Learn mechanical movement watches.

I was one of those that originally did not get the iPhone and iPad when they were announced. Obviously, those devices were revolutionary.
I do not get the Watch either. So, it will probably be revolutionary as well.
The one thing I like is it seems to be more advanced for the Health tracker than the Fitbit, etc are. That is my only real interest in it, but for $350+, I think I am going to sit out the first generation release and see how it does.

I have a buddy that reviews computer stuff for a living and I've seen him go through a handful of smartwatches at this point.
Obviously, he is more prone to use this stuff in the first place, BUT, his interactions with them seem very useful to "normal" people.
I'm holding off on the gen. one Apple Watch, because it is still a honker, but I'll probably pick up the second generation and go from there.

Dropping $350 every 3 years for a pre-planned obsolete tech bauble over a mechanical timepiece that will last 3 lifetimes @ 1000M? Enjoy that ride. That's where I get off.
In my opinion, the screen is too small to be effective to do anything of worth/need that the phone can provide.
At least with the Apple watch you can fap and enjoy 1" porn vids and keep your eye on the prize.
Fair enough, but I got an iPhone within 1 month of release, when there were still many "I would never use a smartphone" people out there. We got an iPad within 6 months of release. I got both of those, although the iPad has been much less useful and I have switched to a Note phone. My question is I think this thing is a bust and it looks like most here agree.
And, yet, when I am around my friend who is an Apple nut (has numbers of iPads & iPhones) he is always asking me what time it is - I'm the one with an old fashioned watch on my wrist that just basically lets you know what time it is. I'll stick with my old fashioned watch and my android cell phone and continue to ignore whatever Apple tries to suck in the public with.
but doesn't your cellphone already take care of your time keeping needs? i agree with you apple really sucks. i have their original ipad, and the software on that went obsolete about 1.5years after it was released. horrible. yet, in the ipad's defense does make a great toilet computer and is great for porn (no one makes viruses for software that old).
I still wear a watch for keeping time, not for jewelry. A cell phone is a crappy watch. I hate pulling it out every time I just want to check the time, especially in a meeting or someplace where you don't want to be checking your phone. It's much easier to glance at the watch on my wrist. I really don't see much benefit to a phone as a replacement for a watch, but to each his own.
I quit wearing a watch a few months ago because I always checked time on my phone, doing a "two birds with one stone" thing. I was looking to simplify all the crap I put on or in my pockets every morning.
This is my problem with a smart watch: It isnt replacing something I already use, it's adding to it. My tablet really is my home computer, so it replaced something. The watch is an additional device I will keep up with.
