Reading this, maybe we really should play our "away" season at Wrigley or Comiskey or half-and-half...
I know this is more of an off season topic, but just saw this today.
Haven’t been there since the Oklahoma game in ‘97, before the rebuild. Used to have Bears’ season tickets till 1980. I had to laugh a little about the small capacity, as it used to seat 120,000 (uncomfortably) with about 50,000 of the seats well past the end zone. For a long time it held the record for largest high school football crowd, which was capacity.
I know I am in a minority, but I like a simple stadium with good sight lines for my own “game day experience”. I know the fancy boxes and sushi restaurants are the things that make money and keep casual fans happy, but I always go to watch the game and not for the food or the hi res TV in the private suite. To me, the 49ers’ stadium is god-awful, like within the game from a cruise ship. I would much rather watch a game in the Rose Bowl. If I had a choice between the 70’s configuration of Soldier Field or Santa Clara’s oven, I would take Soldier Field, assuming the stadium replay board was updated to modern standards.
