If I were advising the program, I’d push hard for Mike Elko — with Marcus Freeman or Joe Brady as strong secondaries depending on whether Penn State wants continuity (Freeman) or a more radical refresh (Brady).

If that doesn’t work — and Penn State wants to move quickly and minimize disruption — then Terry Smith could be a legitimate “bridge” option, possibly earning a shot at head coach if he proves his ability to lead long-term.

Is that as “effective” as analytics?

I just ran through Grok and asked it to use current data as of today and to quickly tell me who should be the next head coach and who will be the next head coach:

Who Should Be the Next Penn State Football Head Coach

Bob Chesney should be Penn State’s next head coach. The James Madison coach has a proven 19-5 record over two seasons, including a 10-2 campaign in 2025, with a career mark of 130-51 that demonstrates consistent winning at multiple levels. His offensive expertise and ability to elevate programs align perfectly with Penn State’s championship aspirations, offering stability amid recruiting turmoil without the risks of unproven coordinators or entrenched NFL names.

Who Will Be the Next Penn State Football Head Coach

Penn State will hire Terry Smith as its next head coach. The interim coach and Penn State alum has steadied the program since Franklin’s October firing, leading to bowl eligibility and earning vocal support from players and alumni. With top targets like DeBoer and Freeman likely staying put, Smith’s formal interview this week positions him as the safe, internal choice to retain talent and rebuild momentum.

I was going to post “eff the ‘opinions’ of AI on this” but then I considered that the training data of most major LLMs likely included years of publicly available BWICAC posts. So now I’m all in :p

Just for fun, I asked it now using the same Grok chat to give me the top 5 for who should be the next PSU head coach and the top 5 for who will be. I reiterated to it to use the most current data set and be accurate as it made a mistake with JMU. It is now completely a Chesney fan for both… not a bad analysis:

Top 5 Who Should Be

1. Bob Chesney (James Madison): 19-5 FBS record, PA native, program-builder with offensive innovation.

2. Brian Hartline (Ohio State OC): Elite recruiter/developer, Big Ten savvy, young at 40.

3. Will Stein (Oregon OC): Explosive offense architect, modern schemes for title push.

4. Manny Diaz (Duke HC): Ex-PSU DC, 14-9 at Duke, defensive ties and charisma.

5. Matt Campbell (Iowa State HC): Culture expert, 42-30 Big 12, gritty consistency.

Top 5 Who Will Be

1. Bob Chesney (James Madison): Betting favorite at 34-39% odds, rapid riser with PA buzz.

2. Kalen DeBoer (Alabama HC): Top target at 16%, splash if Bama falters in Iron Bowl.

3. Marcus Freeman (Notre Dame HC): Surging to 26%, playoff cred, Midwestern appeal.

4. Brent Key (Georgia Tech HC): Realistic hire at 12-15%, PSU likes his run-heavy style.

5. Terry Smith (PSU Interim HC): Player/alumni push, 11% odds, internal stability pick.

China firm plans world’s first pregnancy humanoid robot using artificial womb

Humanoid birth machine

The bold vision of a humanoid surrogate pregnancy robot was presented at the 2025 World Robot Conference in Beijing by Zhang Qifeng, founder of Kaiwa Technology and affiliated with Nanyang Technological University, according to ECNS.

According to Qifeng, it is not merely an incubator but a life-sized humanoid equipped with an artificial womb in its abdomen, capable of replicating the entire process from conception to delivery.

I just realized I referred to Artificial Intelligence's thoughts in the post as "their" instead of "its". How bizarre.

I've never used Grok before so I thought I'd give I'd give it a go. I asked, "Would Pat Narduzzi be accepted by Penn State fans?" I thought I'd go with someone who has a zero chance to get the PSU job. After the analysis, the conclusion is below. Gotta say it looks to be right.

Bottom Line

No, Pat Narduzzi would not be accepted by Penn State fans. The rivalry bad blood, his "whining" persona, and perceived ceiling make him radioactive in Happy Valley. Hiring him would spark memes, boycotts, and chants of "Fire Pat" louder than against Franklin. PSU wants a visionary to "evolve" their tradition, not a Pitt lifer who'd feel like settling. If anything, it'd deepen the Keystone chasm.

Still blows my mind Campbell not more of a presence in this search. Had this been last yr he's probably at the top of the list.
