As hard as it is we need to hope for a complete implosion

I am a huge fan and was a big supporter of POPE but at this stage it is abundantly obvious that he is in way over his head and we need to hope for a complete implosion like a losing record and Barnhart and POPE make it a package deal and walk.
I hear some people here do not want Pearl I disagree he would literally kill it here and now with literally no rules well all is fair.

If I were a “real fan” and apparently I get to make some wishes, wouldn’t I wish we win every game the rest of the season on the way to a national championship? I mean, wouldn’t Pope figuring it out and becoming the best coach on the planet be the better wish?

For a real fan I mean. I won’t expect you to know anything about that.

I won’t do that. But, face it….we beat 2 bottom feeder SEC teams one on a miracle shot. This team still stinks.

UK basketball is broken and Pope cannot put it back together. He broke it.

But losing won’t help.

Wins are always good. An ugly win is still a win.

The big picture is far more important than any coach.

We need to maintain the all time wins.

Fook that, I'll never root for us to lose
Do you have kids? I don’t root for my kids to fail, but I do hope that failures help them to change and to grow. In this case, however, we simply need Pope to fail because he’s far too old and has been coaching far too long to change and grow. He’ll never be anything more than the mediocre coach that he is. The coach that has no business being the coach at UK.

Time and age have taught me that speaking in absolutes is not always wise. I'll continue to root for Pope to succeed until someone relieves him of his duties.

I hope to never see Bruce Pearl on a Kentucky sideline. It’s a good thing that the chance that happens is nearly zero.

If y’all think Mitch is going to fire pope after this season for any reason other than a felony then you havnt been paying attention.

just enjoy the little moments. Don’t be so freakin miserable all the time. Especially don’t be so miserable that you root for more misery. It will all shake out in the end one way or another.

if you get eaten by a bear immediately after a game when you will have died a miserable
Sack of crap. Definitely don’t die that way after a win. Jeez

I’m with you OP. Lose every effing game. And if people don’t think MB would consider canning Pope for a losing season, they’re just not living in the reality of the current climate. A big problem, however, is the apathetic fanbase.

Time and age have taught me that most people don’t change. And that is especially true when it comes to men over 50.

Rooting for your own team to lose so the coach is fired. Frontrunner behavior.

Hard disagree and not sure how that makes you a front runner. Now, 1st im rooting for Pope to do well and win every game left so that maybe we can be a 4 or 3-seed.. but im still no where near sold that he can do this job. So as our losses pile up and it becomes increasingly clear that we're not gonna do anything in the tournament (maybe not even make it), then it makes sense to bottom out so you can blow the whole thing up. You wont do that to an established coach who has won a lot, just for one year. But with Pope, he really hasn't proven anything. One could argue that the fastest way back to UK winning a final4 is to actually totally burn out this year so we can move on to the next coach. That very well could be fastest path to victory, instead of waiting a few years to see if Pope can put it together.

Not all that dissimilar to tanking in pro-sports where you can move on from a bad coach AND get a better draft pick. The worst place for a team to be is just average. .500 win percentage. Because nothing changes. Coaches do just enough to keep their jobs.

If you told me right now that Kentucky doesnt make the tournament this year (or is a 9-seed first round exit team), then id be inclined to have just been blown out so we can move on from Pope that much faster.

Anyone wanting an implosion is not a true fan and most likely a troll on this site.

He is getting booed at home now. When they got down early last Saturday the boos were noticeable. It’s just a matter of time (decent opponent) and they will boo him all the way to his Pope mobile.

C'mon, don't give up now. That was an epic win last night, yes! Exciting ending and it looks like the second half lineup was much better than the first. I am sure there was a tweak at half time and that is the magic sauce.

You are NOT a "huge fan" if you think the best thing that could happen would be a complete implosion. The best thing that could happen is if we started playing two halves a game like the second half against LSU and go on a run of wins and go into the tourney hot
