As Veterans Day approaches tomorrow, Thanks to those here who served and who are serving as well as a thankful remembrance to the many others who served before and are no longer with us.

The 9th Army Band a/k/a 9th Army "Arctic Warrior" Band has been working for weeks to put together a special tribute for our Veterans that is currently available on their facebook page.

Today they posted "Day 3 of our Veterans Day Video Series."

On Facebook, or simply through Google, enter "9th Army Band" for the multi-day tribute. Scroll down to the Day 3 entry to hear their performance as it is interjected with the comments of various veterans.

(Here was the band as they were preparing for today's tribute at the Captain Cook overlook next to my pictured office building as I photographed them earlier last month. )

FWIW, here are photos of and from the same location that I took yesterday evening as the sun set:

The Big Mo and the Pearl Harbor Arizona monument - nice!
Thanks. Here are my close ups of Big Mo.

Not sure if the VIP tour into the depths of the ship is currently available, but if and when it opens up again I certainly recommend it.

One gets to go down to the "Broadway" level where munitions were transported on a suspended rail extending from one end of the ship to the other. The "Broadway" tier was the shooting location for scenes in the movie "Pearl Harbor" replicating the U.S.S. Arizona as well as the location for the interior battleship shots in a recent Godzilla film.

As an added point of trivia, the producers of "Pearl Harbor" paid millions of dollars to have asbestos removed from the location so they could film there.

Just located this screen shot from the movie "Pearl Harbor" which shows Big Mo's "Broadway" level deep in the ship. (Note the overhead rail used to transport munitions.)

And here is my photo I took of the "Broadway" corridor deep down in Big Mo:

Great pictures Alaska. As we all know freedom is not free. The sacrifices by our men and women in the Armed Forces since the inception of our republic to keep our way of life cannot be repaid.Whether it is a family member who served or someone you have never seen before who is in uniform just tip your cap and say thank you.Not only to them but also for those who served who are no longer with us like my dad a WW 2 and Korean War combat veteran who served so that we may live our life in a free country.

@ Arlcatsfan

Well said. One appreciates the recognition given to the men and women in the Armed Forces by our own Coach as evident in this screen shot from just a year ago.

Curious if anyone here caught the artifact or "goof" that my screen shot revealed which made it into the final cut. At the far left one can see the arm and what appears to be a lighting device being held by a member of the filming crew. The "Broadway" passageway is so narrow that there was evidently not enough room for the holder to move off set.

Alaska, as I've said before, I just love your photography. It is one of my favorite things about being on The Rock. If NU's offense had half your photography skill, they'd be unstoppable.
