If it's just for UKMBB games, I'd pass. We won our championships on hardwood, not gimmicks. That said, if it could be used by other sports as well as faculty who could reserve the court to provide engaging lectures or something like that, that'd be awesome. Might have to be more of a Memorial Coliseum thing though, since Rupp isn't UK's.

Hardwood lasts – you get a new TV every so often even if you aren't stepping on it. Kinda like having trucks filled to the brim with bs. It's a truck, not a spa. No need to add all sorts of crap that just has to be repaired by some tech when it breaks down because right to repair doesn't exist anymore. Just seems like the costs outweigh the benefits in both the short and long term. Just my 2¢.

Our BBM was the first time that floor has ever been used in any kind of college sporting event. Another first for UK.

It was awesome to see it live at Madness last year, but I wouldn't want to make that the permanent floor.
Why would you not want it? That floor is badass and the possibilities are ENDLESS as to what we could do with it! Especially being as Rupp Arena itself is largely average imo. We should be the tip of the sword and leading the way in things like this! It’s a recruiting tool as much as it’s amazing the things we could do with it!

Exactly ... possibilities are endless and the benefits long-term could be priceless.

No. Until that type floor has some track record for injuries, let some other school screw up their athletes. And no, until some corporation is willing to foot the bill while leaving complete media rights to the university. I can see no benefit to the team. Merely eye candy for spectators.

Apparently you have no idea the benefit of what eye candy can do for a program these days? You think Oregon has benefited from their football unis?

Yeah we really need huge right to repair laws. I updated my iPad the other day, it crashed. I didn’t have a backup so I should use my phone to restart it no big deal. That didn’t work. My computer won’t even recognize it. I take it to the Apple Store and they say the logic board is out. $419 to replace it. It worked fine before the update and a new one costs $449. Gtfoh. Luckily there are 3rd party shops I can try but still. That part only costs $129 outside Apple.

I think Oregon football has benefitted more from NIL in the past few years than they did for all of the 2000s and 2010s with those insane uni designs.

Ridiculous.

Same thing across the board with engineers designing systems that require specialty tools and techs to fix stuff. Then there's John Deere. 🙄

Yeah those speciality tools and computers that only repair shops can get to even read the systems should be illegal.

I know what blown out knees and upper ankle sprains do for a program. Remember the tartan floor disaster?

And no, I don’t think those uniforms scored a single point or gained a single yard.

Best to wait on a fad like this. At this point, that’s all it is.
