At what point does a jogger become a runner? Is it competing in a race? MPH? Distance?

At what point does a jogger become a runner? People jog, people run. What's the difference? Is it competing and running in a race? You run a marathon. You don't jog a marathon. Is it how fast they go? MPH? Jogging sounds slower than running. Is it distance? You run 26 miles.

Do people say run because it sounds more athletic? Even if they are slow?

If you run races or can do faster than a ten minute mile, you’re a runner.

Someone's going to come in with a sob story about how his grandpa jogged with his grandma, and they were both runners, and shouldn't be hit with the stigma of being called a jogger. And assert that you should MYOB and not be so judgy.

I think it’s a mph thing. For men during their prime, I would say running starts with sub 7:30 miles. Between that and 10:00 miles it’s jogging. Anything beyond that is slogging - slow jog.

Nope none of the above. According to real runners -guys on the XC team, guys finishing in the top 200 at Boston guys running in 100 mile races- a runner never ever wears headphones while running ( even training) only joggers wear headphones

When the scantily clad attractive woman approaching from the other direction on the trail comes into view. Next question.

The equivalent of sucking in your gut when a pretty 20 something girl walks by.

I walk for my exercise at a very quick pace for 1 hr to 1,25 hrs, four times per week and I cut my own grass with a walk-behind mower. That meets my needs at my age. I think runner implies more time sensitive type exercise and more physical exertion than jogging.

I’m not alone in thinking this might be a trick question

We all know (or at least were taught) that:

Rate * Time = Distance

I’ll allow you to define each of the above variables in terms of jogging vs running.

2 did Philly marathon at 3:30. Math please.
26.22/3.5=7.491 miles per hour.

(1/7.491)(60)=8.00961 minutes per mile.

Helpful hint: the units tell you what to do. Context is everything.

Also, you can do simple calculations in the middle of your post.
