Some research activities at the HAARP site in
Alaska can cause air glow & visible light effects

And it is an aurora like phenomena

Meanwhile, HAARP's "Making the Invisible Visible" experiment will "test if hot electrons are capable of producing the continuum (white) emissions present in STEVE airglow." STEVE, short for Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement, is an aurora-like phenomenon that occurs when charged particles from the sun interact with Earth's ionosphere.

Another test seeks to project images and audible voices/sounds in the atmosphere

One of the more unique experiments, "Ghosts in the Airglow," will mix art and atmospheric research to "play with the liminal boundaries of Earth's atmosphere and outer space," according to the project's website. The experiment will use HAARP to bounce images, spoken word and sound art off the ionosphere to learn more about radio propagation

Saw the title of this thread and was wondering who is missing now? Kids are Amber Alerts. Seniors are Golden Alerts. Aurora Alerts?

Was a little too hazy from Manitoba fires last night otherwise would have been good here. Another decent forecast for tonight. Hopefully the haze clears later.

I see them mostly in the fall and winter. Three or four times a month at peak if I had to guess. Intensity varies. Summer not so much, but it happens. Hopefully I'll get a glimpse tonight.
That is more than it expected. I was listening to a podcast from a guy from new england and he had only seen a few times.
