Has OU #3 behind Texas and Kansas State. DL Ethan Downs is OU’s only preseason All B12 selection. Second year in a row that we’ve only had one player picked in the preseason. This such pump up the squad. I like it.

OU has the schedule to win a bunch of games this year. Next year is what has me concerned.

Honestly, I'll be surprised if we are top three in the conference. Too many offensive holes. OL, Wide. We're going to be substandard. And the stripes in the conference will give us no breaks.

I've only missed two. One was in 2006 when my separation from my ex was new. The other was early COVID. Especially since it's now semi-permanent in Dallas, I'll be there if we're there, and I'm breathing. This defense will have to be the best in more than a decade for us to have a chance to get there. In an offensive minded league, I don't think we can keep up, and overcome what the stripes will do to us.

Well you just hang on and enjoy this defense you haven't witnessed since the early 2000s. It's here I tell ya. It's all coming together my man. 👍

Hope you're right. We'll see.

And BTW, caught a glipse of you battles with idiots on the O'Connell's site, or whatever they call it. Keep fighting the good fight.

Agree, but many OU fans will again doubt Venables’ ability if this year’s team struggles… ignoring the fact that this team is still in transition with the issues you mentioned, which I will add include the defensive line, secondary and kicking game.
I can’t recall an OU team being such an unknown quality as this 2023 team.

I was thinking the same thing back in 1999.

I think Brent and his staff have done a brilliant job with recruiting and portal additions to make this a severely underrated roster.

My greatest concern was the game management blunders we witnessed last season from Venables, Roof and Lebby. Maybe it was a lack of cohesion as a staff but a number of those close losses in 2022 were a direct result of poor in game management. I think it's an easy fix so I'm not panicking, but if we see the same issues in 2023, resulting in late game collapse, I'll start getting a little twitchy.

If Lebby can find the identity of this offense, this team could pop. Brent, I believe has guys he's a lot more comfortable with and won't be as complacent schematically.

I saw the B12 prediction for OU today. It’s got us losing to Texas, Kansas and BYU. All away games. 9-3 for the regular season.

On paper, Texas is the only one who should be favored over us. Brent can prove a lot by winning the games he's supposed too.
