Should be an interesting two weeks full of new homes.

Not time to panic yet about other teams having already announced transfers. We are in the same boat of 1/2 the conference with zilch newcomers announced.

Nice update!

Payton Sparks should be the poster boy for "this is broken."

Plays his freshman season at Ball State. 28 minutes, 13 ppg, 8.5 rpg.
March 16, 2022, Enters the portal.
April 1, 2022, Withdraws from the portal, stays at Ball State for his sophomore season.
29 minutes per game, 13.3 points per game, 8.7 rpg.
March 16, 2023, Enters the portal again.
Transfers to Indiana for the 2023-2024 season.
Hyped by Indiana fans as the next great whatever.
6-7 minutes per game for Woodson. 2 points per game.
March 19, 2024, enters the portal again.
March 24, 2024, "commits" to Ball State again.

Kid has itchy feet. He must've been disappointed not be able to play with Miller Kopp.

The thing that stands out for me is Iowa's coach is 'losing' his son to Butler. I am vaguely curious about the story behind that. I don't think I've seen it before in D1.

My understanding is that he's currently dating a future WNBA first round pick, who is most likely being selected by the Indiana Fever.

OSU is the most interesting one on the list. Meechie coming back. Odd to see Gayle leave. And surprised that Dayton would be interested in a 45-year-old Zed Key.

His bro also works for the Pacers and probably lives in Indy so kind of makes sense.

Didn’t Goldin commit to Michigan.

was thinking the same

This son had/has widely reported challenges with his mental health. I only bring that up because his father and he likely have gone through more stressful times than most. How that played out in the transfer, who knows?

Some writings that he was leaning towards MI. Just like the Yale kid.

Clingan declared for the draft. So I wonder how tempting it is for Goldin to take his spot. Google it and UConn has contacted him.
Declared for the draft like Zach Edey, or declared for the draft like Brooks Barnhiser? I'm really asking. I don't follow the NBA and have no idea if it would be worth it for Clingan to come out now.

I don't follow it either. First NBA game of the year I see will probably be tonight. Season starts today as far as I'm concerned.

But, considering people think that he's in the running for the top spots of the draft, I don't think this is a testing the waters type of situation.

He’s probably a top ten pick right? How much will he make vs NIL?
Yeah, I was surprised to see Clingan as potential #1 pick.

I know the NBA guys look for 7'3" 225 lbs and the ability to run the floor and shoot the 3, but Clingan hasn't proven the outside shooting, is heavier than that... and Edey certainly outplayed him in the NCAA final.

(I do think Clingan could develop his outside shooting)

If you're playing a college game today, you take Edey every time over Clingan.
Seems like NBA is the opposite.

It's about ceiling. That's easy to understand for me. I get it that Clingan is more mobile than Edey and that alone probably justifies the higher than Edey pick.

Where my brain gets confused is processing the candidate to #1 pick. He lacks touch and finesse. And I can see that improving but never being impressive.

Having said all this, my brain is probably wrong. He might have the ability to develop that touch. I would probably have said Bam Adebayo was going to be good, but not a star.

They’re also saying this is the worst draft in memory. So in a different year, Clingan may not be a top 10 guy?

I dunno, in the NBA I'd be more interested in Clingan from my limited time watching him. He seems much better suited to the fast paced up and down the NBA is running these days. He's faster, has more endurance, and much better hops than Edey. Edey is a lot better offensively from three feet out, but I'm not sure the other team gives him time to get set up and bang away for a hook.

I think Edey beats the **** out of Clingan all day every day for the next 10+ years

I haven't seen anybody anywhere talking about Clingan as a potential number one pick, but he is a very likely lottery pick. Edey is surged up draft boards to MAYBE might get taken at the end of the first round.

Brother took a job with Pacers. They'll live together in all probability. Dad's boys are gone with degrees. Less pressure for Dad and sons. Matta is a good, proven coach. Big East Conference. Doubt if there's any NIL money.

I don't care about the NBA but I have seen a grand total of one draft board and was surprised to see Clingan listed as #1. That was right after the NCAA championship game.

My reaction was "Seriously?" and I moved on to something more interesting, like putting air in my lawn tractor tires.

It took Clingan a half to figure things out with Edey, and Edey is freakish. Clingan’s athleticism, defense and shot-blocking skills are likely what’s attracting NBA interest most.

My googling showed:

Clingan at 3, 10, 20
Edey at 12, 13, 33

Nobody knows anything. But it sounds like there’s some serious Michael Olowokandi/Anthony Bennett potential in this draft.

Tarris Reed, Jr. to Connecticut. Higher chances Goldin ends up in the Paris of MI.
