File under: not surprised. Would love to be in on the coaching staff meetings when they started talking about transfer portal, and whether anyone (including Fitz) was pressing to hit it hard or if they saw it as a 4th or 5th best way to round out the roster.

Perhaps you are right, but if so, I don't get it. What the heck would items 1-3 be? Weightlifting? Better Execution? I always felt like it was "portal or nothing" this year. To be fair, they did seem to address some of the areas of need. Although, presumably, we still don't have a kicker because whoever the holdovers are must be worse than Kuhbander. Right? RIGHT?

Of course I was speaking in hyperbole, but...yeah. If the job Mel Tucker did with the portal wasn't the biggest uppercut Fitz & Co. needed to see what was available here...then...we are hopeless. The other thing here: grad transfers. There are a slew of grad programs that a grad transfer can enroll in...basically effortlessly - ironically very EASY to get into an NU grad program when the player's main goal is just to play. Hello integrated marketing communications. I just don't see us "righting the ship" this season but would love to be wrong.
