Now it's all about driving and that's it. Compared to KU, they're finessing the crap out of us and we continue to over pursue.

Well to be fair, see the KU game in Morgantown in January, the only one we won this year. We spread them, drove the ball, killed it at the foul line and won comfortably. 3 guard lineup exposed KU's inability - that night at least - to stop dribble penetration. Paige went in.

I just replied to someone about that. We over played and they didn't. They drove and shot or dished, we just drove for the most part. Correct or not?

Pap......................we lost...............they didn't. That's the way the world goes round. Sometimes you up, sometimes you down. Half an inch of water.................think you gonna drown. KC, as usual, has it right.

Right. But they guarded the outside shot very well tonight. So the answer, at least in the second half was to stubbornly drive almost every time. Even Williams was dishing off in the first half when he had to but in the second, none of them seemed to look for the dish off. KU did it in the second half and won with it.
You could see their gameplan plain as day. Attack just like Florida did then dish off if the drive wasn't there. They played better defense than we did and we turned the ball over 20 times.

Turnovers were even at 20, a neutralizer and not a weapon this time. **** happens. Can I say that?

Obviously our offensive plan was motion passing & dumping into Devin in the low post. It worked esp 1st half over and over & we led. Dev scored 31.

Our secondary offensive plan - dribble drive - was all but shut down. Guards couldn't penetrate effectively & struggled with outside shooting. That is the sole reason it's an L instead of a championship. Credit KU. Credit fatigue of our style. 3 games in 3 days. Finale vs No. 1 in a road atmosphere.

I thought the difference was the 3-point line. 2-15 WV. 9-15 KU. Hats off. For now.....

I agree. But it was irritating to see their guys open, and they did hit a few well guarded but for the most part, they had plenty of open shots. WVU had hardly any from the outside, especially in the first half.
I'm just wondering what other kind of half court defense would have been more successful, or at least worth trying. Did you see much change up on defense for us?

Zero defensive change. Can agree. I was super irritated at how KU shot the ball 2nd half. Efficiency was like watching a pro team to be honest. I think it was like on D, we're getting turnovers and speeding them up, as Self admitted at the half. They stayed the course of that.

This one was a toughie under circumstances.

I just think only reason we loss was some legs temporarily lost from our outside shooters. Look at JC Friday to today. Look at Jaysean season results compared to last 2 games. Just wasn't quite there, but don't think that'll be the case with rest + prep for new opponents to come.

Like I wrote elsewhere here, imagine Devin playing like a man vs boys plus decent guard shooting plus press. Good luck beating that formula.
