Someone just needs to put Detroit out of their misery and boot them from Thanksgiving games. There’s no need to subject the country to this level of lousy football.

Hell, putting on an Ivy League game would be more interesting.

If the Detroit Lions were smart, they would hire Bill O'Brien. There is a lot of misguided, undisciplined under-coached talent on that roster.

Football has essentially become chuck the ball downfield, get pass interference, score a touchdown.

Respectfully disagree. No one gives a flip about Detroit playing on Thanksgiving other than people in Detroit, (and even then only maybe ;)). It’s a lousy product that’s only survived this long because it’s literally the only game on tv.

The officials reminded me why I rarely watch the NFL.
After watching, I am not sure it’s all the officials. There was some pretty crappy fundamentals out there. A couple of holding calls were guys just grabbing and tackling guys!! The Raider trying to cutoff the guy on the play away made me sick. No wonder there’s so many flags

The officials aren’t the ones not looking back for the ball or being too handsy with receivers. Yes, some holding is inconsistently called and roughing the passer can be arbitrary at times but if players were better, there wouldn’t be as many flags.

I watched the game and some of the calls I saw were ridiculous, especially a RP on Parsons.

Yeah they call that penalty on Parsons but don't call a hit 5 yards out of bounds which would have given the Cowboys a first down on the possession where they tied the game. The Cowboys didn't lose because of the officials, but rather because once again Zeulein opens the game by missing a PAT and McCarthy chooses to take a made PAT off the board and go for two midway through the third quarter. However, the huge number of penalties, many of which were ticky tack, against both teams made the game unwatchable. My personal favorites were the illegal block in the back on Dallas' punt coverage team (didn't realize that guys running down the field to try to cover the punt returner were "blockers") and the illegal procedure on the Raiders center for doing what every center does on every shotgun snap; look up and down to see when and where to snap the ball.
