Both threw one pick (one was an easy pick six) other was a nice defensive play but also had little to no fight for the ball by the wr. One has a touchdown throw, the other has one dropped on both first drive. Neither one out oerformed the other. First possisions alone we had three drops

You've lost your mind. This was Barkers first game experience where the game wasn't already over, he got what? 4 drives? He produced as many yards with 8 throws as Towles did with 30 at one point. Barker out performed him and should be the starter. Period.

I don't understand it either. I don't see how anyone could think Towles is better at this point.

In yet another example of poor coaching...you don't pull a young QB after his first mistake, it's a total confidence killer. Grasshopper coaches understand this better than our staff.

is it just me, or does every passing play by towles look like he is being hurried or running for his life? when it is a quick throw, the play doesn't develop well or its an inaccurate throw. i have zero confidence in this kid. I was very disappointed to see Barker pulled.

He doesn't know how to step up into the pocket ... at all. He freaks out for whatever reason and just runs.

The last play, the ball to Baker that would have gotten the first down and given UK a chance........that ball was below Baker's knees.......he should have caught it, but how many times is he inaccurate with simple throws?

and when he runs he has no awarenwss. He slid a yard in front of the marker with a defender 5 yards in front of him and then he goes down 2 yards in front of the marker on that play before he threw it at baker's feet.

I didn't like Barker being taken out but the offense was doing nothing with him in after his first drive.

If you ask me, it's not the qb. The offense almosr entirely came on the ground. Why? Why weren't we able to sustain any drives throwing the ball? Poor play calls? Bad quarterbacks? Poor blocking?

I agree with the first, but he was tripped up on the second one.

Yes. Stoops went back to the old gray mare.

Barker had 60 yards passing on 8 attempts with one TD and one Int. PT's had 67 yards on 26 attempts with no TD's and one int. yeah I can see where one would think not much of a difference between the two. Perhaps mr. Stoops you should be addressing your team instead of on the message boards defending your idiotic coaching.

Did I say pat played better? I said you couldn't say one played better than the other. Barker hit a nice deep ball. Pat threw a nice one his first series. One was caught for 45 the other dropped. If Timmons catches that one is six. Also the third down before the fg was a catchable ball for a first down the juice lets between his hands.

I'm sorry, we couldn't get one yd on three runs, and our "stud" we makes no effort on two endzone targets. If baker isn't happy with who is throwing him the ball he don't deserve to be in there. With exception of his first drive what did barker do? Over threw a slant high (sound familiar?). Made a nice scramble on a 3-16 on a deep cover three.

I'm sorry when your top reciever don't want a qb you can't let him control who plays. He gave zero effort in the first few series. A whiff block on a screen killed a drive (He did finally fight for extra yds in third quarter).

When you state that you have an open QB competition then you treat them equally. Stoops didn't do that today. He held Barker to a much higher standard than he did Barker.

Another thing, why does Dorian Baker continue to start?

The offense wasn't doing anything because Barker wasn't being allowed to pass the ball. Hell man Barker only had 8 passes on the day.

I thought they were both terrible besides Drew's first drive. That said Barker was pulled way too fast. Very stupid move by Stoops.

Both led the team to scores. Barker did it more so with his arm. Towles somehow helped the running game. The bad thing is neither could consistently keep the offense moving.

@brianpoe am curious to hear your thoughts on tonight. I personally thought Barker played better.

I called for Barker the last 2 games.

His INT was against the same type of zone many of PT's are.

People do not understand that when a defense only has to rush 3-4 that leaves 7-8 in pass defense, that is very tough.

I thought Drew brought energy to the offense, I totally disagree with benching him, my guess is something happened we dont know of yet.

Very level headed as usual, and as usual, I agree.

Yes. And the crazy thing is he'll even looks panic-stricken like that on plays when he has excellent protection and plenty of time if he'd just step up in the pocket and process his reads like a QB at this level is supposed to.

The dude just gets panic-feet SO easily. It's frustrating because, physically, he looks like a dream QB prospect on paper, at least in terms of size, arm strength, speed, etc. But, unfortunately, he just does not seem to have the intangibles and mental tools needed to succeed as an SEC qb. And even on the plays when he makes the right read, you still never know where the ball is going because he can be SO wildly inaccurate with his throws.

I don't know if Barker is the answer. But I've seen enough of Towles the last couple years to know he's likely never going to get there. He just doesn't seem to have it inside him. Might as well give Barker his shot.
