Anyone who doesn't see this is brain dead. He should have been fired when he decided to extend the contract of Stoops based on nothing but loses. Now is now. The future of football at UK is now, not next year, not the year after that. Their is not another AD in the SEC or another school president, or fan base in the SEC that would accept the team that UK puts out on the field for it's alumni to support.

How can anyone support Barnhart? I am sure Stoops is a good man but it was Barnhart who gave him the contract extension. He didn't ask for it , it was Barnhart.

Why can't people see that until Barnhart is run out of town, nothing will change. He either has no understanding of the SEC or has no respect for the UK fans and alumni to hire a first time coach and expect him to succeed in the SEC who's slogans are two, Eat or Be Eaten, and my favorite, If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.

The heat should be on Barnhart who called the people who want a football program microwave fans. The only thing that should be in the microwave is Barnhart.

Don't be hoodwinked, sidetracked, the problem in Barnhart.

I'll unblock Fuzz just to read his retort. He invariably leaps to the defense of Mitch on these threads.

Fuzz, comments?

He's made three decisions of such monumental stupidity that any one of the three should have gotten him fired:

1. Turned over the nation's premier basketball program to Billy Clyde Gillispie
2. Made Joker Phillips the dread "coach in waiting."
3. Gave Stoops a ruinous buy-out before he'd done anything.

I can assure you that one decision that moronic on my job would be an immediate dismissal.

Imagine if Cal wasnt available the second time by sheer f'ing luck? He wouldn't have been able to be forced into that hire in the first place.

The guy is a train wreck. I've said it for years. I'm glad I've now got 90% of the base behind me. It always sucked trying to explain it.

That is what dumb looks like. Here's a man who passed on what for UK is a once in a lifetime type opportunity to hire a proven, successful football coach in Petrino. Instead, he gives the job to a career DB coach/DC with zero head coaching experience. Then he gives him a contract extension for posting a losing record. Yeah, Mitch is every bit as dumb as he looks in his photos.

Stoops wasn't a highly sought after name when Barnhart hired him. Correct me if I'm wrong on that but I don't remember his name being a popular one when he was hired. I don't remember seeing his name being mentioned for other positions that were open at the time. He got an extension for nothing pretty much. I still have no idea what Mitch's reasoning was for that. Mitch is the problem. He has put the football program in a bad situation with that contract extension. This year will more then likely end bad and it wouldn't surprise me if stoops gets another year. That is just going to make matters worse. It wouldn't surprise me to see players transfer and recruiting will get worse as well.

Don't blame Stoops. He's doing what anyone would do if their boss offered them a raise after they lost the company money.

It's Barnhart because the buck starts and stops with him. He is not qualified to be a AD in the SEC which is a football conference, not basketball.

He has to leave before Cal. Retires or he will screw that up as well.

Speaking of which, what has that moron said about today's debacle?

"well, I think this team has work to do and I fully believe and support the efforts of stOOPS to figure it out. Lots of football left to be played and we've got a lot of time to get this right. Florida is a tough place to play and much like Aleppo, it's tough to come out of there without getting burned. The fans are great and stand behind this program and thats the most humbling part to me, to see all of the support flooding into my office and for coach stOOPS. Let's evaluate later and just get behind these kids and support this program. We've got New Mexico State next week and that should be a good one."

Typical PC stuff.

Comparing Florida to the Syrian immigrants is beyond belief to me.

Translation of Barnys statement.

Since I have no clue about football I sure hope Stoops can win a game so the heat on me will go away for a week or two. And then these stupid microwave Kentucky fans will support for a few more games such a loser. The luck of the schedule almost did me in but New Mexico State should put the mob to rest for at least a week.

Mitch's shortcomings have made for a lot buyouts...millions upon millions, but this may be a first Mitch pulled off. Has any coach anywhere else ever walked away with more millions than victories? What is Stoops now 12-27 and when it's all said and done he's gonna walk away smiling about being somewhere around 20 million dollars richer. The incompetence is really hard to fathom.

whos the effin moron that gave Barnhart an extension? the BOT or Eli?
That's a great question and hope it gets answered.... And how does an AD toss out "Aleppo" to a question about football? Wow, Mitch knows current events!... He's a keeper.... I think Mitch is a good man and certainly don't challenge his intentions but a problem, though not the only one... Lots of blame to spread around for a football program to be as inept as UK, for decades. We never hear about/from those behind the curtain and that won't change.
Maybe we'll get lucky and Matt Bevin will just fire them all......................

Simply can't argue with those. At some point someone has to sit down with Mitch to evaluate his performance and ask for the reasoning behind these awful decisions.

Exactly. Everyone talks about Stoops having a $12M buyout, well does Barnhart have a $12M buyout?

Fire Barnhart now so that we can at least have some faith that the next head coach hire will be a good one.

Goodness. How in the world is this guy still employed?!?

I hope he administration realizes that college athletics is a business now, so it must be run like a business. I know this has been said many times on here, but if the CEO of a company lets it's 2 largest profit producing products flounder this long, they get fired IMMEDIATELY by the board.

This needs to happen in this scenario. Mitch has to go before Stoops or another Stoops will be the replacement.

No Tim Couch. What the hell does he know about running college athletics? Derek Ramsey would be perfect. He can run the football and everything else, and he will leave Cal alone to run the basketball

Barnhart leaves Cal alone now because he was forced to. You're probably right though on the Couch thing. I just thought it might matter since he is very well connected in the football world. Who cares about the Olympic sports?!?

Gainesville Florida = Aleppo Syria.

Wow....just a terrible analogy considering where the program is currently.

I'm waiting for another letter to the fans similar to the one he wrote about Joker a few years ago.

Oh believe me, i know that.If it were up to Mitch, Cal would have never got hired. I really like Tim Couch and hope someday they would find a spot for him, He would be a good ambassador for the university

Barnie's biggest problem is the SEC TV contract. He gets $30,000,000 per year for being a SEC member school. His boss thinks he's wonderful because UKAA makes money. It's the ultimate reverse Catch-22.

I've said this before, Barnhart's only real skill is raising money and getting projects done. He should have upgraded facilities for Brooks when he had the chance, but our basketball team was a dumpster fire with Gillespie and required his attention. However, he get's projects done and raises private money extremely well.

Everything else, he doesn't understand. He doesn't know how to hire. Up and coming just doesn't cut it in the SEC anymore, in basketball or football. An up and coming coach like Gillespie should have never been hired. His only good hire, Cal, was made with a gun to his head. Well now we have some nice new facilities, so we should be able to attract some good big names if we shell out the cash. The problem is Barnhart considers himself judge, jury, and executioner. His holier than thou attitude has rubbed donors and boosters the wrong way since he got here. Until the fans speak loud and clear (donations, season tix) I doubt the board or president would have the balls to can him.

Our basketball program and fans alone makes our university a premier AD job. I truly believe that. We get the right AD, and we could take our athletics to some great new heights.

But, but, but he's Mr. Morals. Everyone gets a trophy win or lose. It's like he's running a little league someone and not an SEC athletics department.

And the thing that really burns me up is how much more UL has done with so much less. They were playing in a minor league baseball stadium for much of the 80's in a mid major conference until 2006 (and then it was the dying Big East) Yet, Jurich has been running circles around this clown for over a decade.

As stated earlier, if Calipari hadn't fallen in his lap, who knows what mediocre loser we would have coaching our bball team, doing things "the right way" while losing in the round of 32/16 every year.
